  1. Udvar-Hazy is one of those immigrants who came to take a job away from an American and made the $20 Billion he has left after large donations to several institutions, by leasing aircraft to airlines.

    1. ummm, have you got me confused with someone arguing politics or immigration policies? I'm here to share stuff about things with wheels. Or are you injecting your prejudices into this? How about we don't. The guy gave away a LOT of money because he loves airplanes, I dig that, and so I posted about it.

  2. Really? Wonder whose job the took by establishing his airplane business, but maybe you have access to info the rest of us don't.

One of many reasons the US is so wealthy, is that it takes in refugees (like the Udvar-Hazy family) from all over the world, and who then contribute by having that great extra drive and strong work ethic. That U-H on top of that donates part of his wealth for rest of us to enjoy or otherwise benefit from, well, so much the better. I know $66M for the airplane museum is just pocket money for him, that the goodwill gained is unmeasurable, and his ego gets stroked by seeing his name on it.

  3. Jesse, please add this to my comment:

It's not like he donated an unlikely sum of money to get his son into a prestigious Ivy League university.

    1. I don't have an ability to alter anyone's comments. I can delete, I can post. That's it. I think you mention another issue, with the university bribes scandal, that I haven't brought up. So, please keep in mind, I didn't bring up immigration, or Ivy League universities.

  4. My point was to appreciate this man who did much more than give $66 million to get his name on a museum.
My only prejudice is against people who would keep this man, who has done so much for aviation and this country, out...
    and snakes,I don't like snakes.

    1. oh, okay. I hope your comments in the future aren't bringing up politics... I rarely do, as it's emotionally charged issues that no one will discuss with charm, wit, humor, and logical facts. People already have their minds made up about political issues, and only rant on things that others are unable to change their minds about.
I realize that I often post news about law enforcement murdering unarmed citizens, btu, whent he cops stop doing it, I'll stop posting about it, and - it's my blog where I share what I'm interested in, and no one else has told me et in the comments that they have a blog I can look at.
I have enjoyed your comments for years, and thank you for speaking up in the comments section so I know you're out there, and that I've posted something that connected with you, and you often use some humor to connect with me, like the "Snakes On A Plane" joke, or, maybe I'm wrong and it's simply that you don't like snakes, and anti illegal immigration.
I say anti illegal immigration, as this country, like most others, have a very hardline immigration policy that is meant to unmotivate people from immigrating. Simply, fix your own fucked up country, as this one is already fucked up, and we don't need anyone moving here and screwing it up more by getting unemployment and social security as you haven't PAID IN to those social programs. Australia for one example, is bleeding funds on unemployment, as they do not have many available jobs, no car manufacturing to be precise, and unless people with doctorates in medicine, science, and engineering are applying to move to Australia, the answer is NO.
      Same thing in many countries.
The USA isn't quite that harsh, as my friends and co-workers from Mexico (I'm in San Diego) have made the transition of nationalities to American, from Mexican, while under the poverty level, but it's an automatic immigration approval if any one in engineering and medical careers wants to move to most any country.
No one will train those people, they have to show up already proficient... is my life experience.
Just like no one will pay a person to play a musical instrument - who needs training and experience, and expertise - it's that simple. Any country could give their citizens college a university education, for a couple of years even (some northern European countries do) but instead, only offer job training to prisoners, who aren't likely to be able to get a job, as employers aren't in favor of hiring anyone without a good credit score, a great resume, and is already good at the job, with no negative marks - such as jail or prison time, DUI, etc.
Anyway, I like you, I didn't bring up immigration, and am pretty sure you're for open bordes and I'm for a nice big wall with guns on shoot to kill movement activation. Come near my border wall, and get shot. That's how we prevent invasions, and the Great Wall of China has proven to be effective for thousands of years, the Korean DMZ has for 6 decades, as have many other countries with barb wire borders. Anyone that wants to move to this country can do so in the new way, with a ticket on an airline, that's called tourism. Come on over and spend some money, it's the worldwide accepted method.
I've been to China, Korea, Japan, Mexico, Canada, Hong Kong, Jamaica, the UAE, and Dubai. All of them were very friendly about show me your papers, and have a good time.
America is the same way. We adore tourists, that aren't going to break our fundamental law of come in peace, legally.

    2. I believe that keeping out people of other countries, MAKES countries... as with no borders, there are no countries. If you disagree, with me, then try and convince Iran, Iraq, etc etc muslim countries that all those stupid young people hiking aren't spies - and dangerous to national security.
At least the USA has a policy of open door immigration for people from Cuba. I don't recall learning of any other country that has an open door immigration policy, from any country. Not even Canada lets Americans in with open doors. And they LIKE us!
Maybe it's the human tradition of simply keeping eaters OUT OF OUR DAMN GARDEN! It's not for freeloaders and eaters, it's for the farmer and his family, and that's how it's ALWAY BEEN.
That's why countries have borders, fences, walls, and KEEP OUT signs, we do not want someone wandering in and eating from our gardens and orchards. Stay out, don't even come near our fence, or we shoot you so you won't eat our food.
      Pretty simple, and historic.
If you want in, show up at the gate, ring the door bell, show your papers, and we'll decide if you can come in and buy what we're selling.
How's that? And remember, you brought up immigration. I could have used this time to look for cool things to post.

  5. Sounds like a man that appreciated his time here in America and left something of great value to the people of this country. I don't see anything wrong with that plan!

  6. I live very close to this museum. It is full of amazing exhibits, and other than paying for parking, it is free! I highly recommend it for anyone visiting the DC area.
