  1. The car was likely owned by Italian businessman Luigi Piotti, who was also a part-time race car driver. The online history of the guy is a bit contradictory, but it seems clear he turned privateer in 1956 when he bought a Maserati 250F. The rather spartan conditions seen in the image supports the conclusion that the car was not there in the context of a factory entry. The car number also coincides with at least one online picture, with attached text identifying Piotti as the driver of the 250F. Luigi had little success as a driver, but he sure must have had a bunch of fun.
