The "Spirit of St. Louis" hangs above the North Hall of the United States National Museum, now known as the Arts and Industries Building. Lindbergh donated the airplane to the Smithsonian on April 30, 1928 and it first went on display on May 13, 1928.

  1. For me that is the most interesting building at the Smithsonian. War planes, rockets and so much more. There is one of the very early Russian manned space rockets and the welding on it looks literally bird shit. Scarey to think they wouldn't have had better welders? And the great thing about this place is your standing right next to it and you can actually touch most of it! If you get a chance it's a must visit
