they built to last, knowing no way to do things other than the right way. I doubt they had the 5 day 40 hour work week. They had no tv to watch, no Nascar races on the DVR to catch up on, no video games... they only had the work, and they took pride in doing it right. No labor saving devices, no front end loaders, bulldozers, no 20v battery powered portable DeWalt tools. No airconditoning, no radio. They had the work, and no portable on site toilets. No roach coach rolling by to sell breakfast burritos. They had the work, and they did it well. There were no jobs that were looked down on, men were selling groceries in the stores, delivering milk, cleaning chimneys, and collecting the garbage on dump day. No one had a snooty attitude about what jobs were considered respectable, all jobs were work, and they all were respected. And America still built things, won wars, and existed on the gold standard
