oh yippee, robocop is on the job in New Hampshire because people haven't fully removed all snow from their vehicles. Oh, how, did they ever, survive, before he came along?

One New Hampshire police officer went on a ticket-writing spree following a snowstorm on Wednesday, stopping 21 vehicles over a four hour period, issuing 19 tickets and taking two people into custody.

17 of the tickets were issued to drivers who failed to clear snow and ice from the top of their vehicles.

  1. That makes sense, flying ice coming off roofs of cars and trucks can sometimes do some real damage. Large ice sheets from the tops of trailers are really dangerous.

    1. ok... fine, flying ice danger, true. How is that any different though, than the fact that driving in winter is dangerous, life is dangerous, traffic is dangerous. We already have laws on the books for ANYTHING but chicken feathers and water falling off a vehicle in traffic. There's also endangering other drivers, reckless driving, etc.
I simply oppose govt overrunning everything in life, and making everything illegal so they can pull over drivers at any time, no matter if you are legally driving, with a brand new car, on a warm sunny day. There's a law that they can cite for "reasonable" justification to pull over anyone.
I'm very against the entire notion. Govt has become an enemy of the citizen, not a tool for national guidelines for road repair, military operation, and national defense.
Anyway, getting back to snow and ice... those are naturally occurring winter weather effects. The presence of snow and ice on vehicles is a given in winter, ol mother nature is going to surround our cars with snow and ice, and add more all the time while driving. It's absurd to get law enforcement harassing drivers and acting as a revenue generator simply to meet quotas.
Also, this bullshit doesn't take place on the road in front of the mayors house, nor on the street in front of city hall. Ever.
It's an operation run out where city and county govt employees won't be hit in the harassment.

  2. I hope that they give the Officer a promotion for doing his job and protecting the rest of us from the asshats that will endanger the rest of us.

    1. They probably will, he's certainly doing his job. No question. I didn't have the constant police presence when I grew up in the great white north, were 100 inches of snow a winter wasn't unusual. That was a slow winter.
If every damn time someone went out without brushing off all the snow they were stopped by a cop? We'd certainly have had a revolution and seceded from the nation. It's snow, not a nuke bomb being delivered by terrorists, go find a crime being committed that someone gives a shit about, and stop a criminal from being a menace to society. Like, arrest the bastards at Lehman brothers, or Bill Cosby on his rape spree, and Bernie Madoff with the Ponzi schemes.
Those asshats ruined LIVES, they weren't just driving, in the winter, with snow on their cars (You expected Hawaiian leis?)
So, let me know when you're going to blog about stuff Gregg. I'm dying to read your opinions on stuff.

  3. Taking care of idiots like these is one of the many reasons we have police departments.

The idiot in the picture could not be bothered to clear his windshield!
Driving during winter is dangerous enough to have to deal with morons that would rather drive without being able to see what is around their cars just so that their hands dont get a bit of snow while clearing the windshield!

  4. Perhaps you should pull your head out of your ass before you flame on people who disagree with your opinions. Jessica’s Law in NH was enacted with widespread support of the residents of NH and those same residents are grateful when offenders are stopped. It takes all of 5 minutes to clear your vehicle of snow before driving. Just look at the picture in the article - do you want to share the road with that asshat and his reduced visibility? Do you want to follow behind him with the whiteout conditions caused by the snow blowing off? You wanna dodge the sheet of snow and ice the comes sailing off at 70 mph?. Why don’t you go ahead and give the driver a bottle of booze? Protect your God given right to be an asshole and endanger other drivers any way you can. True yoopers give a shit about their neighbors - they’re almost Canadian in that respect. When I attended Michigan Tech it sure as hell wasn’t the locals driving around in 4 wheeled snow drifts. Finally, why have a comments section if you don’t want to hear other’s opinions? Are you that desperate for the gratification of having some people stroke your ego or do you get off in some way from flaming those that don’t agree with you?

    1. who is flaming now? Or did you miss the obvious irony?
Oh, and it's my website, you must have over looked that too, so, pull your head out of your ass, as you like to say, and look around.
I say and do as I like. If you don't like it I don't care.

    2. anytime you want to carry on a discussion with a moron, talk to yourself. If you want to talk to someone else, check your attitude at the other side before you walk into their world.
      Or, make your own website.

    3. that's hilarious, I found a hypocrite unaware of the irony of telling other people not to do something, and then launching right into what he tells other people to do. Did you wake up today thinking I give a shit about your opinion?
Unless you are more ignorant than I guess, you missed that heading out into the winter is inherently dangerous, and everyone else accepts that.
The rest of us get onto the road knowing that we either take control and the risk involved in controlling a 3 or 4 thousand pound suicide machine.
If that scares you, stay off the road.
You are also ignorant it seems, of the other people on the roads, some don't need all the comforts of full 360 view, hot dry roads, and Pippi Longstocking approach to everything.
Some drunks are on the road, some texting distracted imbeciles, and then there are the many who simply are too stupid not to drive safer.
If snow blowing off other vehicles scares the spit out of you, move to the far south of Florida.
Unlike you, I can drive in anything, anywhere, that has power and a clear path ahead, if you can't stay out of the way of those like me that can. You're just in the way, causing problems, so quit being the fucking problem.
When you were at MTU, you were surrounded by tourists, and college kids. If you'd gotten out of the city, you'd have seen true yoopers, out in the woods working or having fun, or driving through real snow drifts, not 4 foot bullshit, If you can see over it, you ain't got nothing to worry about. Well, you might, it seems anything over your knees worries you.

  5. My buddy's father headed for FL from PA with his motor home and Jeep in tow. A couple hours down the road the ice on the roof of the motorhome cut loose and totaled the Jeep. Yes totaled.

I agree it's another way for them to say "papers please", but I also hate to see clueless people on the road who can't see out of their windshield and backlite.

    1. Should he be arrested? Felony (damage over 2000 dollars) vandalism?
      No.
Shit happens, things are insured, we move on and learn from our mistakes and either repeat them from laziness, or, we park under overhangs, car ports, polebarns, etc
I hate to see clueless people. Lets arrest them all.
Or, we get civilized and tolerant, and allow for shit to happen without packing more people into the crowded jails, and ruining their lives because they can't get hired with jailtime on their resume

  7. Just my 2 cents but where my wife and I live a woman was injured by ice flying off a vehicle ahead of her when ice can off the roof So yes I think people should clear their cars and trucks before driving. Or just park it until Spring.

    1. Has any woman fallen and broken a hip in that area? I can guess the answer is yes. Did we need to make a law against gravity? Did anyone get an eyelash in their eye? Did we outlaw errant eyelashes?
Sarcasm is a wonderful tool to point out the ridiculous.
Outlawing snow on vehicles, in the winter, as we drive about on frozen roads, usually while it snows, seems stupid to me.
I'm pretty sure that was already clear.
Regardless, how about everyone scared of snow and ice move to the Florida Keys and join the other very old people who move quite slowly on the golf courses?

      Delete
  8. Did they outlaw icicles from buildings roof eaves yet? Did they outlaw icy sidewalks? Has anyone made cold temps a felony for causing frostbite?
    No?
Then oh why? Oh the humanity!
Move to Florida if you can't adult the winter. Then move to Texas if you can't adult the annualhurricanes, then move to Colorado if you can't deal with Tornadoes, then move to Oregon if you can't take the occasional avalanche and low population, then bingo... you're in Portland Oregon, and become part of the local color.
Or? face it, the world isn't a safe warm happy place with tangerine trees, and marmalade skies, where rocking horse people eat marshmallow pies.

  9. Seems like most of these commenters agree that if you’re too lazy to clear your vehicle and drive around endangering others you deserve a ticket. You rail incessantly against law enforcement and government whenever you get the chance, but here’s an example of police enforcing a law the residents of the state overwhelmingly supported and still you’re not happy with the job they’re doing. What kind of run in did you have with the po-po that gave you this hard on for them?? To your other point, maybe instead of Portland everyone could move to San Diego, drive a car you can’t see out of like a Veloseter (did you see my cool 3rd door), pretend we’re gonna restore an old car (can’t afford to even with the money we begged strangers to send us) and sit in front of a computer for hours a day compiling cool stuff other people posted and passing it off as our own content

  10. Wow, where did you find a gallon of haterade, and why waste it while looking through my site.
If you, and I'll use small words so I don't confuse you, if you don't agree with me, go away, and slobber all over someone who says all the right things to make you happy.
You're blind to the links, on nearly every post, that show the source, and let you, the reader, know where to go for more, and who to credit as the creator of photos or articles.
If an article doesn't have a link, then maybe, juuuussst maybe, I used my own cell phone or camera to take the photos. Maaaybe I went to the car show, convention, concours, or whatever, and then posted 150 posts (SEMA) a year with hundreds of photos, to share the news, cars, and products.
Oh, and, 37,000 posts... that's a dictionary size amount of information about vehicles, and like a dictionary, I didn't invent the contents between page one and the last page... I simply gather, edit, present, and share for free whatever you see on the pages.
If you think for a second that it's for your benefit, you're stupider than you seem.
If you think you could do it, HA! Try it.
If you feel I've passed it all off as my own content? Well, only to the extent that I found all of it, made some of it, but shared ALL of it, in one place for whomever comes along to enjoy it, then fine. It's my site, the material inside isn't all mine.... just like if I say that the Veloster (you can't even spell that right) is mine, and I didn't make a damn part on it. I traded my time for pay to give to the makers of it so I get to use it. Mine. Just like your residence... you pay for it, you didn't make it, no one can question the term "mine" when you use it to refer to your place.
Anyway, I don't care if commentors agree, or disagree. Did you think I did? How quaint. You must have a tiny little brain.
Whomever, like yourself, disagrees and barfs hate all over, can do that. I don't mind, I get to state my opinions on MY site you moron, and you can piss off if you don't agree. I don't know you, will never meet you, wouldn't know you if I was standing next to you, and if you introduced yourself I'd be quite amused that you took the time to look at the blog I made, and wonder that you didn't take a bit longer to find someone else's you'd like more.
Then you would be a pain in my ass I suppose, and we'd see where that went from there. I got no problem with you squaring off, I'll get more stitches, surgeries, broken ribs, and go back to jail, and not give a fuck. It's all just one more day with the apes all screaming "I'm here!" over and over and over, and nothing new to me. I haven't lost a fight yet, as determined by me still standing while they wonder what happened to put them on the ground. Well, if you feel froggy, just ribbit. See where it goes.
If you're so jake with cops wasting peoples time, then go bring them some donuts.
I was an MP for 3 years. That's cop on base, to you, if you're not ex military and don't have a clue. Ergo, that means latin has some nice terminology, I didn't have a run in with, what's your cute little term, po-po? You really go around saying po-po? Seriously?
I was the po-po. Just one of many, and without the bullshit rules about snowy cars to enforce. Even better, I got to choose what was not worth the time and effort, and what was. That results in police being around to help, instead of tied up writing useless revenue generator tickets. See, cops can just hang back, and be ready for something, like a fireman, or they can be involved with stupid shit, and then have to break off to deal with real issues.
I'm the type that doesn't harrass people, like cops used to be, back when they walked their beat, and were helpful. They also were respected... and maybe you aren't smart enough to see that those lines cross, and now that they keep busy pissing people off, aren't respected, nor helpful.

  11. And no, don't move here to San Diego, we like this city just fine the way it is, less crowded than if you showed up. You'll just move slow on the freeways, and be a pain in someones ass who knows how to drive faster.
Oh, wow, look at that, you think a veloster can't be seen out of, just like that Infiniti with the snow on the window, and I don't seem to have a problem with either. Imagine that. A correlation. You look that word up, I'll wait.
Oh, as for your other paltry insults, really? Pretend to restore? Who said that? I'll wait, you go look for where you think that was ever said.
I'm still waiting, did you find something? No? That's cause I never said I was restoring it. Putting in an 8 track isn't a restoration, it's a day two upgrade. It's pretty fun to listen to also.
But restore? No. That's around 40 thousand dollars, and no, I never had the intent to spend that, I don't need to. I'm going more for repair, upgrade, and enjoy more. I don't need to have a like new looking car to enjoy it. I've got one new car, and that's fine. The old car is old. It needs the suspension, exhaust, ignition, and brakes upgraded. That's about it. They're simply old, and either can benefit from some hot rodding, or worn out from 50 years of use. Not that you'd know what that means.
Begging strangers? Uh, really? I'm on the street corner with a sign that says "haven't eaten in 3 days" No. The tip cup is for people, some I've talked with for years, some I've met, and others who happen to feel the urge to toss in a tip for the entertainment they get for free. Some are strangers, none are asked for money, all are welcome to do as they please. Tip, don't, get the free entertainment, or toss some dollars with what ever amount they choose, to help the process along.
Some look at the tip cup as I do the occasional coffee and donut videos, and other content. That's for your enjoyment.
As for the time I spend in front of a computer, just exactly what the hell did it take for you to read the blog, get annoyed with me, and type out your pablum? yeah, hours in front of a computer, you imbecile

  12. oh, and slavery was also overwhelming supported. So was the Nazi party. Go ahead, ponder the ramifications of just why you support whatever the flavor of the day is instead of thinking for yourself. Then fuck off. You might as well be a nazi slave owner, to insist that overwhelming support means shit to me. I think for myself. If you could, you would too.

    1. look at that, this is really the best you could come up with? You were under no time limit to reply with such a weak reply. Take your time, get some help, see if you can stretch past 3 sentences and get a take on any issue I brought up. You just hang out and keep at it, you just might think of something actually insulting, if not original.
As for redemption, just what is it I'm supposed to be redeeming my self of? Not agreeing with your narrow minded point of view?
If the thought of my redemption bothers you, just ignore it, I got it covered with the lives I've saved. Not that you'd know anything about that, you simply don't know me since I upped my standards, so, up yours.
