I drove through Pt Loma to see a friend, and spotted these Mustangs, and this cool trailer, on the way

here's the view from up on the top of the peninsula, to the West is the Pacific, and

to the East, Downtown San Diego on the other side of the bay

  1. Have you been to Sunset Cliffs Natural Park? I tried to go to the Point Loma Lighthouse on one of my trips to San Diego, and it was closed. I found Sunset Cliffs, which was very nice. I drove through Point Loma Nazarene University to get to the park.

    1. I was stationed on Pt Loma Subbase, and know of Nazarene College, it's walking distance from my friends place on Tarento! But I've never heard that the campus is open to the public, and can be traversed to get to a park! Thanks!

    2. from what I see online, the park is accessed through Ocean Beach, on Ladera St https://www.sandiego.gov/park-and-recreation/parks/regional/shoreline/sunset

    3. I was just driving around, killing time, and I must have seen a sign for Sunset Cliffs. I think I turned off Catalina Blvd onto Dupont St, which turns into Lomaland Dr. I think I parked in the lot by the residence hall, which I probably wasn't supposed to do. I remember that I had no cell signal while I was there, because my wife was trying to call me and couldn't get through.

I read somewhere that the baseball field at that school is one of very few that have the batter looking west when they are at home plate, because that has the view of the ocean in the outfield.

    4. huh! I never learned anything about baseball fields. So, is there an advantage for or against a batter looking at an ocean view?

    5. At least for professional fields, they usually put home plate in the Southeast corner, so the batter doesn't have to look into the sun when they are trying to see the pitch coming at them.
