You would be surprised at the number of racers do tow on a open trailer.. We towed on a open bumper hitch trailer from Fort Worth to California. Took the long route across Hoover Dam then to Vegas to stop and cash a NHRA check, From there we went to Gainesville, Florida. While not a million dollar car it was a Division 4 championship car that I built. We also went from FTW to Denver, Colaroto, Bowling Green, Kentucky, Baton Rouge Louisiana Indy Nationals and several others that I can't remember right now. Just so you know, it was powered by a 400 inch Mopar low deck wedge. I will send you pictures of the car later A lot of miles on that Chevy three door carryall and open tongue pull trailer. I will also tell you more about the engine but that will be later to. I hear a TV dinner calling me so this old man is gone! Catch you on the flip side!
This isn't a race car getting towed, it's just an investment that was towed to a restoration facility. That's the shocking part, someone who can afford to have this transported enclosed, but didn't and let his investment get weathered, and salt road damage, and the risk of the theft along the way
It would only take about 10 seconds to steal the gas cap. A small bolt cutter to cut the cable loop. I once paid a body shop $5 for a mustang gas cap. Bet you would add acouple zeros to that now.
Good Morning! Hopefully it will be thoroughly washed underneath and topside before any nefarious effects take hold. Shame though to have such disregard for the car and the investment in it. Open trailer towing certainly requires some common sense and foresight of anticipated winter weather, I've done my share of it between Winnipeg, MB and Vancouver, BC.
