someone got a good video of that helo crash in Huntington Beach, and the engine didn't stop from the loss of the rotors, or the crash, it kept running - and someone did a great slow mo analysis of the helo falling apart mid air- the tail rotor failed, sheered, fell off, was hit by the main rotor, which bumped the helo, and broke off... all before it hit the trees
To the men that kept their shit together and pulled that boy out from under, I salute you! flippity flops, lawn chair and all.
ReplyDeleteIf either of you happen to read this, Thank you for being an excellent example of what we all should be.
But Hollywood told me there would be a fireball?
ReplyDeleteHelicopters have one job and that is to kill everyone on it. The Pilots job is to not let that happen. Our Huey crew were following the Battalion Smoke ship when the the main rotor shaft seize up and shearing off. Rotor blades separated in a slow rotation and wiped out a hardened L shaped parking revetment. Thn blades came down and took out that l shaped parking resentment. The helicopter spiraled to the ground and twisted the cabin doors forcing everyone to exit cabin door. Everyone walked away unharmed. I think I have photos of the ship stored on this hard drive but would have to look bud that will take a while due to other projects. I will send a link kater about Aa Chinook going down some years ago. This one killed seven Texas Air Guard members with one being related to my wife.
ReplyDeleteDisregard the military's cause of crash as it is BS. I will fill you in later as I am about to leave but I will tell you the complete story in a day or two. George
