pretty dang adorable, the gremlin from the 1940s

 but they don't seem to have any real history, this seems to be a marketing technique 

To me these look just like the Gremlin from the Disney book https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2016/09/gremlin-gus-ii-has-that-name-due-to.html But there is a difference in the goggles. This one has individual lenses instead of one large oblong lense, like ski googles

But the rest of the design seems to be the same 1943 Disney / Roald Dahl design
