It’s very unusual to see track this old today. The posted piece, old as it is, is probably 90 pound rail (or less), meaning a three foot section weighs 90 pounds. Modern track is up to 140 pound rail, necessitated by the weight of 250 ton locomotives, 15,000 ton plus coal and grain trains, etc.
