'68 Vette was stolen from its first owner, in New York City, only 3 months after he bought it in '68. But he couldn't afford insurance, so he was out 6k that instant







One day in '68 he had left it in a parking garage in Manhattan only to return later and find it gone without a trace.

one day in January of 2006, almost 37 years to the day after the car had been stolen, he received a phone call from the authorities to tell him his car had been found.

Alan Poster was incredulous. The entire history of the car is unknown, but it has been repainted from blue to silver, and the original 327 has been replaced with a big block.

The car had resurfaced when its then-current owner, who knew nothing of the car’s past, entered the VIN to export the car to Sweden to a new owner.

He kept it for 17 years, and is now selling it
