Photos of roads like this cause me to wonder about the guys who had to build them, were they annoyed that it couldn't be straightened out? Or, happy to have a challenge, something unusual for a change that wasn't just straight and level

  1. Most times, multiple "S" curves are done to keep speed down.

  2. alot of the roads were , when first constructed, a one lane dirt road, and the model Ts and wagons didnt have a problem with the curves, and with no bulldozers to move the dirt, it was like railroad, much easier to make curves and go around the hills than flatten them.
