the strange and unusual 1971 industrial output 413 engine used on irrigation pumps


it had adjustable rockers, sodium filled exhaust valves., and the intake was liquid cooled.

  1. Farmers living atop the Hugoton gas field would ofter run these engines on natural gas. The gas leases often had a clause that the landowner would get free gas either to the farm house or for irrigation.

    wonder why whey cooled the intake instead of the exhaust manifolds like on boats?
