The NYC subway is so desperate for operators, it's reportedly offering retired train operators up to $35,000 for 90 days of work

the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority employs more than 66,000 people, but lost about 5,000 workers since the start of the pandemic.

Of those 5,000 retirees, about one in five were in subway services, and that has led to severe complications for the transit system.
