Found at SEMA 2018 http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2018/11/race-ready-trans-am.html  but this photo is far better than what I could achieve at SEMA without a ladder

  1. Incredible build done by a young man in his parents car port with minimal tools.

    1. you might want to consider what you think you heard, when you said "minimal tools".
A shrinker stretcher, and a bead roller... and a frame table. Those are not minimal tools.
And someone bent the tubes in the chassis, and welded them.
Just because he says it was in his parents car port... doesn't mean a car port in the normal sense, nor does "his families side yard" relate to the concept I get about a "side yard" or car port. He just might have some very rich parents, and a LOT of big expensive tools. A frame table for pete's sake, is rare for a "side yard car port"
Nothing I'm saying detracts from his work.
I'm saying these terms are not making sense.

    2. Plus, consider how much he spent on the custom made parts, the custom fuel cell, the custom engine, the custom axles, etc etc. He's got 50 thou or more in the parts alone. Rich family

  2. A frame table can be as simple as 2 I-Beams, and yes I'm sure he had access to a shop and their tools....He also had a sponsor as well as ambition. Don't knock the kid cuzz he had some backing.

    1. I repeat, your phrase " build done by a young man in his parents car port with minimal tools." is not the way I take the shrinker stretcher, a bead roller, a frame table, the custom fuel cell, the custom engine, the custom axles, custom crank, custom pistons.
Those all add up to a full shop with unlimited money. Opposite of a kid with minimal tools in his parents car port. A blank check isn't a minimal tool, in anyone's perspective. But creating the narrative that you're just a poor kid who made a great car from nothing but a couple hand tools? That's just marketing.
2 I beams that are checked for precise alignment and dead zero flatness the full width and length. Unless a person is just sloppy and does shit work. People building good cars are not doing shit work.
I'm not knocking the kid, the car, or the result.
I'm factually only taking issue with the way you minimize what adds up to full custom shop work and blank check build.
He made a great car, but it's my opinion he made people think it was amateur hour
