two service bays and a couple of pumps.... and that was all it took to earn an honest living. I wonder, what percent of all the ones that existed are still in business selling gas and making repairs?

  1. Not many, I'm sure. Boy, them pumps are an awful long way from the station.

    1. so trucks with long trailers can maneuver through, trucks hauling boats, tow trucks, etc I suppose. Not many city gas stations have much space anymore, not here in San Diego... I am careful to drive between pumps and the building at one gas station, in my Veloster. It's ridiculously tight, as the building is angled in the location due to city streets and the corner of the city block

  2. Ooookay, that make sense. Tractor trailer clearance didn't occur to me. Thanks.

  3. Yup, and when you were pumping the gas you came on the run when a car ran over that bell hose! Used to be a great part time job for teenagers. I pumped gas off and on in a number of station for 4 or 5 years.

  5. ALL the 2-3 stations that sold gas for Sohio, BP have been turned into gas and twinkee stores. Less headaches, more profit, knocked down rebuilt with 12 pumps, awning, if you can't pump 100,000 gal. a month, no rebuild.
