Cadillac Osceola, 1906. 1st step from horse drawn coach to automobile

For the cars that really blew my mind how little they changed from the statgecoach/carriage body when they hooked up an engine, see these  http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2011/03/between-age-of-horse-drawn-stagecoaches.html

The car in these pictures is not a Model H. The H was a bigger four cylinder car on a 102" wheelbase. The coupe here is Osceola which is a single cylinder car, built in late 1905 on a 1906 chassis with an 82" wheelbase. The car was 87" high! I presume these pictures were taken at the Detroit Historical Museum where the car is on display according to the book 80 Years of Cadillac and LaSalle. The same book has a picture of the 1906 Model H coupe. It has a much longer hood because the four cylinder engine is mounted up front in the conventional position and not under the floor as it is in the single cylinder models.

    1. OK... see that museum info board? I do, I see what it says, and I figure, geez, those guys sound like they know what they are talking about. So I just go with that. That's the thing about the internet... most of the time people get stuff right, and when they don't, you can't tell without something giving you a reason to spend time researching the issue to see if they were wrong. I know one guy who doesn't have the extra time to ressearch and cross check things... he has two thumbs and is typing this message right now. Thanks for the correction! I'll switch up the post title

I just searched Cadillac Model H and it seems the same mistake is made in several places.
