Magnus crunched up his favorite 911 into the back of a semi trailer transporter parked in a NO PARKING ZONE... in Minneapolis. Looks like damp roads, 15 mph zone through the S curve, and a bit too much speed. That's not the dry hot California roads he's used to!

the reporter riding with him acts like it scared the hell out of her. Magnus was in Minneapolis to promote the opening of the Porsche dealership http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/news/a26477/magnus-walker-porsche-911-crash/

Just try to figure out one thing... why was the trailer parked on a road that is a NO PARKING ZONE it's entire length. Taking up one entire lane of a small 2 lane road, next to the entrance of a parking lot. HEY! DUMB ASS truck driver! use the parking lot to park in!

Learned of this from Jalopnik

and that is why race cars have roll cages

thanks to google street racer view, we can see exactly what the road was like, and that he was coming around a blind corner on Wayzata Blvd

where the trees along the parking lot on the left would have been blocking his view, and he couldn't have seen that some moron parked a trailer on the narrow road, instead of the enormous parking lot on the right

there's the NO PARKING  sign that the trucker was ignoring, one of many as that road has them on both sides, for the length of the car dealerships access road

For the record, there are no speed limit signs in front of the Porsche dealership. HUH! Coincidence? I doubt it.

If you look back down the road Magnus was traveling on, he may have only passed by this single speed limit caution sign

  1. I don't care if the truck driver was getting fellatio on the side of the road. That dude was driving too fast, it's all his fault. He almost hit the Mercedes that was going about 10mph. What a dink.

    1. It's not ALL his fault, truck around a blind corner in a no parking zone gets at least 1/2 the blame for blocking HALF that road. Yes, he was too fast for the road, the temp, and the Minneapolis surface that had morning moisture still on the road. All true. But seriously, effing truck taking up a damn lane, next to a parking lot! You hold that truck to no fault at all? Seriously?

    2. I just love getting squirrely in the morning with my car due to the morning dew. But not for one second do I fault the driver. He was driving like a dink. What if the truck driver had a heart attack. That dink was driving way to fast for conditions. Nice Car != Good Driver. And that corner was not a blind corner. Watch the video, there isn't one break in the coverage. And luckily he didn't hit that classic Merc. That would have been a shame too.

    3. No what ifs, over here, I deal with reality. What happened, what was there. What if's end up with Godzilla killing Bambi and other stupid nonsense entering a discussion that can be kept simple. The corner was a blind corner, and I discovered that using Google street view, cut and pasted the images here for you to see why I think so, and you're allowed to form your own opinion. If you think that the camera man having a clear view means that the Porsche drivers view was unobstructed, you aren't taking a moment to realize that the camera was filming from on a protruding hill, and can see from the top of the hill in all directions, and a driver can't see around that hill the camera is on. Simple, see? No what if's needed to complicate things

  2. I'm going to take a guess at this situation. Could that be the hauler that had just unloaded his Porsche?

It appears that way by the film crew standing in that area.

    1. 3 photographers... I didn't see a film crew, however... with a reporter in the passenger seat, and the you tube being filmed by the tv station, it's obvious that corner was a good vantage point for a view of the Porsches... but the hauler isn't his, it's the wrong colors (I linked to the Road and Track story that has a photo of his small single car trailer) and has SRT on the side.

    2. The film crew that filmed the video that you posted. That person was also standing on the same corner where the other photographers were located.

  3. so if it had been a city bus at a bus stop?
    bus drivers fault?

a school bus picking up kids?
    bus drivers fault?

broken down porsche blocking the road?

the moron driving the car that crashed was going waay waay too fast for conditions.

    1. I don't do what if's. That has no place here. The facts are that he was going too fast, and a damn trailer was around the corner right in his way

    2. obviously the driver going 5X the speed limit doesnt do what-ifs either.

you should never overdrive your stopping distance.

  4. I've watched the video numerous times. To me it appears that the accident starts when he loses traction in a turn.

The parked hauler did not cause the accident, but gave him an object to hit.

Is there proof of the roadway being damp, or is that an assumption.....or possibly a cover up for someone's pride?

    1. yup, it appears he was trying to power out of the curve, on wet road. This satisfies the logic test... Minneapolis, 930 in the morning. The hauler parked on the road didn't cause him to lose control... but because he had no open lane in front of him to follow through on, he most certainly could only hit the trailer. Obviously, I'm the only one finding the trucker at fault for parking on a ROAD. Not in the PARKING LOT. Nobody else seems to sync with me on that. The road being cold and wet, well, look at the clothing people are wearing. No shorts and tshirts, most of the few people in the photos are wearing a sweater or jacket, and you can see the overcast sky. You can also hear the tires squeal in the video, and you don't see any smoke. Sounds like wet tires on wet road. No smoking tires after that long of a lock up? Well. Damn it people! Am I the only one that was a traffic accident investigator? Yes, oh. Well. Ummm... listen and learn my friends, see if what I've said makes sense. But wow, I'm surprised no one sees this the way I do, and I even linked to the google street view, had to point out the no parking signs, and the 15 mph in the s curve sign. Oh well, I feel I did a damn good investigative journalist and accident overview, and must allow that I may be wrong, and that no one else will ever get upset at the trucker for parking ON THE ROAD! (drops mic, wanders off to blog about other stuff... I got to wrap up th eday with something better than my current post you know?) Have a good weekend PM!

  5. You are the only one trying to make excuses for a guy driving his car irresponsibly. Had he been going a reasonable speed, we wouldn't be debating this video. The road being wet isn't an excuse either. He knew, or should have known the road conditions.

    1. Did you read the title I put on this post? Try, really try not to get your panties in a twist. Shit happened, I pointed out all the contributing factors, because NO ONE else bothered to.

Yes, he drove too fast. So what? We all do. It's a fucking Porsche, it's a street racer. Figure that out yourself. The rest of it? No one was noticing, that it's a California guy used to hot dry roads, in an S curve, with a hill blocking the view of the trailer, parked on the ROAD. Now, you find a Porsche, and an S curve. I fucking double dog dare you to stay at 15 mph. Enough said.
