  1. The car George Barris is painting was known as "The Hairy Canary". This was a custom T-Bird that my brother Bill Roberts bought sometime in about 1966. He was only about 17 when he bought this car off of a man named Bill Bundo who owned the Camelot Bowling ally in the Walled Lake MI area! I remember riding in this car when I was about 6, the car was really something! My brother only paid $1100 for the car and let it slip away from him when some mechanical problems came up.

    1. well John, you scored a rare ride! Wow, guys could be young and live in the real world back then, lawyers and politicians have changed everything. 17 years old can't drive alone without an adult now, nor afford insurance, or gas.
