Inside, a full stripped-out interior includes cage, harnesses, fire suppression system, and racing seats. Around back, a fuel cell feeds the V-8 up front. To remain competitive on the vintage racing circuit, the Cougar wears a special suspension with Koni dampers and upgraded rear leaf-springs. At all four corners, disc brakes were substituted for the original system.

The current owner acquired the car in the January 2009 Russo and Steele auction and has used it occasionally since. The 347ci Ford V8 was built in 2015 by RC Performance in Huntington Beach, California with a Dart Iron Eagle block, JE pistons, AFR aluminum heads, and more as detailed below. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed Ford Toploader transmission and 9″ rear end with a limited-slip differential. Other details include a 6-point roll cage, Kirkey racing seat, Safecraft fire suppression system, disc brakes all around, and 15″ Torque Thrust wheels.

The Suzuki Go, Bertone decided to create an amphibious off-road machine using a Suzuki engine and parts to expand the presence of Bertone in the Far East

The layout of the Go was naturally very simple: a flat multi-purpose cargo bed with a tailgate. Two wings, like pontoons, surrounded the bed, containing the engine and radiator/luggage. Up front, two seats and no doors or windscreen completed the passenger compartment, such as it was.

Introduced in January 1972 at the Brussels Motor Show, the Go was a hit – although many could not figure out just exactly what it was. It was a bit less than a full truck, a bit more than a dune buggy.

Gandini drew his inspiration from the rubber inflatable dinghy boats that were becoming popular at the time. Developing a similar concept for a car – a lightweight flexible carryall which seemed like it was not a truck – seemed an interesting challenge.

 Inspired by the Myers Manx, Nuccio Bertone, fell in love with the dune buggy concept, and set Gandini to work transforming the Simca 1200.

The interior was spartan, with a bare minimum of gauges and interior finish. The seats were open leather webbing. There were no doors, but a chrome rail provided some minimal side protection.

Despite being a hit at the Paris Show, there were never any production plans. It would have been too expensive to produce, plus, at a time when production car safety was becoming a real issue, a car like the Shake would have been a liability.
