1916 Buick DX44, the front tires have "Maltese Cross" non-skid treads. These tires may have been made by Gutta Percha & Rubber Ltd., thank you Ace!

The Buick DX-44 was the export model of the 1916 Buick D-44 Roadster. George Dammann, in his book Seventy Years of Buick, states that it cost $985, and, "The 2,660 pound car was finished in Delft blue body and hood and black wheels and fenders with cream wheels being optional. Buick build 12,978 for domestic sales and 541 for export. The car used a 115-in wheelbase chassis and 224-cubic-inch 6-cylinder engine to totally new design. Tires were 34 x 4 inches, plain in the front and non-skid tread in the rear." The tires shown were then likely replacements for the originals. There was also a much larger DX-54 and D-54 with similar body, built on a 130 inch wheelbase, but weighing 3,400 pounds, with a 331-cubic-inch engine of 55 horsepower, royal green body and black fenders, and costing $1,450.
