a tv show idea I think would be a success

WW2 ambulance driver and medics. Not the hospital scene, just the transport of wounded to battle field hospitals or nearby towns that are on the allies side.

Very Band of Brothers style, with some change in scenery now n then.

My idea is the guys and ambulances, or women drivers of ambulances, (ITALY. 1944. Drivers from the French ambulance corps near the front, waiting to be called. Robert Capa photo)

(serious wow photo, close up after the top photo I posted, both Robert Capa photos)

or both, plus the medics, the wounded, a fast birds eye view of the front lines then back to behind the lines to where after the triage and immediate surgery and MASH (mobile army surgical hospitals) the ambulance drivers are transporting the wounded to the next hospital for recuperation and extra medical attention.

So, less front line combat, more soldiers commiserating with each other and the ambulance drivers who would be trying to cheer up the wounded while overcome war zone problems and troop movements, bad road problems, with the potential for views of tank squadrons, infantry, bombers, fighter planes heading out on sorties, red cross donut vans, letters from home, and maybe some scenes of stopping to help parachuting, but off course, soldiers along the route get to the front lines.

(Thanks Steve!)

Some scrounging for supplies, fuel, dealing with the (whatever the army word is for mechanics garage for repairs) issues.

All the enlisted (completely enlisted, no officers) experience of the behind the scenes events, like Milt Caniff's Male Call, https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2017/10/miss-lace-character-from-comic-strip-by.html

And there has to be some artist giving the ambulances lettering, or the interior roof pin up art... did you know about those?

I saw this one the other day, horrible painting, as it's got to be hard to do a nice piece of art on the ceiling of an ambulance.

Just a thought prompted by looking through military ambulances

    1. heard of it, never heard about it, but since you're (ironically not varying on my experience so far, lol ) recommending it in context, I'm going to take a moment and look it up and see if it's a definite immediate purchase

    2. just read the synopsis https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Farewell_to_Arms and that's a love story, focused entirely on the character's lust for the nurse, set against a backdrop of the Italian WW1. No wonder I've never heard about it. Love story... not an adventure, drama, or straight war story.
I'm certain I mentioned "Not the hospital scene" yes, there it is, copied and pasted from where I wrote "Not the hospital scene"

  2. I always thought a TV Tank show, kinda like Fury meets Combat. The day to day trials and tributes of a tank crew
