Trump is only the second sitting president to visit the Daytona 500, and the first to make a lap at the track. Has any president of the USA ever lapped a race track before?

  1. I don't think that any of the previous Presidents have done a lap around a race track while they were in office.

  2. None that I know of.

  3. I sat down to watch and as soon as asshat made his appearance I shut it off. How much of our taxpayers money was spent on this showboat? I can think of so many other things to waste my money on.

    1. Are you actually upset how much money anyone in the govt wastes? Really... I'm curious. Legit. They all waste a ridiculous amount, and any single one of their trips to anywhere is a fortune tossed away when they decide to see a theater play, attend a baseball game, or go for a xmas shopping trip to London.
You're probably aware that Obama and wife blew through gazillions on their holiday shopping spree, not for presents, but for the entourage of the secret service, the multiple presidential limos, to obscure which actually has the president in it, the cargo airliners full of all the support equipment, vehicles, etc.
Michelle Obama went on an annual trip to Aspen with her daughters and shut down its airport; the total cost was $88,663.29. The same weekend, President Obama took a golfing trip to Palm Springs and met with King Abdullah II of Jordan, which rang in at $183,529.62.
Obama's family travels cost the U.S. a total of $114 million during his presidency. That is, I repeat, family travel. Not state travel for business.

    2. Michelle Obama’s vacation in Spain with her daughter Sasha, several friends, their children, and some White House staffers cost U.S. taxpayers at least $467,585

    3. They are all showboats. They have zero concept of what amount of money they waste. Trump is a billionaire. He actually doesn't understand the value of a dollar, it's a billionth, or less, of what he himself is worth. The job of president requires them to look at billions the way we look at ten dollar bills.
None of them are frugal, they are all ridiculously wealthy, even among the people they deal with at work.
What's Pelosi worth? I mean, just her, not her and her husbands combined wealth?
about 160 million for her, 200 for her husband, and total about 360 million.

    4. So, be disgusted by politicians, cool with me, they are all crooks, corrupted by, or simply at home in, the corrupt government.
But getting a president to show up to an event? That's cool with me. It sucks that it's a waste of a fortune that could put hundreds of kids through school, even through college.
But it's just the shit that the leader of the country ought to do more of.
Show up to games, races, state fairs, plays, and shit like that. Get out and mingle with the country that you're supposed to represent.

    5. Whew, that's a lot to take in...still don't like him as a person let alone a President. I whole hardheartedly agree that all politicians are crooks and are only in it for the money and prestige.

Thanks for your comments Jesse. Great blog.

    6. I wouldn't let anyone I know date him, for damn sure. I wouldn't let anyone I know invest in anything he runs as a business.
As a person? He's likely to be despicable just from the personality of a spoiled brat that used dad's millions to make some millions, wasted investors money to get name recognition to convince other investors that he's a good investment, which got him some real estate to flip for profit, and suddenly it's all millions here or there to do this or that to flips something or another for profit.
Naturally, that results in a lot of debt, lawsuits, profits, bankruptcies, etc etc etc/
All polticians seem to con everyone else too, so, he's a natural fit.
And where can you play with the most money with zero care for how it might risk your fortune? Get into the govt offices.
Regardless..... he's blessed us with the most beautiful first lady we've ever ever had. Probably the most beautiful we ever will. Bush Jrs wife was terrific, Jackie was also terrific... but Melania? Is a legit model.
And she speaks more than one language...
seriously the most impressive 1st lady ever.
Only Condi Rice would be more impressive from the view of accomplishments, but she dropped out of the public view after being Sec of State.
I wish SHE would have run for president as a matter of incredibly qualified potential.

    7. I agree with you on Condi, she would be great as a President. I think most of the criticism of Trump on this one is from politicians wish they'd thought of it. FWIW it probably didn't cost any more than sending a half a dozen F-22 from Eglin to do a fly by during the national anthem (or the Blue Angels, the Thunderbirds, etc. etc.). I've witnessed Presidential grandstanding firsthand from Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, and George H.W. Bush, each had their own way. I've had my travel plans held up for days because President Obama was in town to go golfing and the airspace was shut down till he left. Teddy Roosavelt didn't call it the 'bully pulpit' for nothing.

    8. That is VERY astute, thank you for pointing out what a waste of money those fly overs are, and no one cares!

    9. Hey PSI, Al brought up an astute observation... those jet fly overs at nearly every major sporting event are a ridiculous amount of wasted dollars.... thousands of dollars per second for flying jets, all taxpayer dollars. Multiple jets.
And we saw last year or the year before, that when jets fly, they crash.
So, millions and millions wasted when the jets crash, and some kill their pilots.
So, the govt just wastes money like crazy.
No one seems to get upset about military jet flybys, every time the singer of the national anthem grabs a microphone, there will be a jet roaring through at the end of the song.
It's just a stupid thing that happens, instead of free education, we get handed noisy jets instead.
Homeless vets? No one minds that if we are looking up at the jets doing a flyby at the end of the anthem.

    1. I heard that Darrell Waltrip had been pegged to drive the limo, but the Secret Service stepped in and nixed that at the last minute. I imagine that the Secret Service agents were wanted the privilige to do as much as it being a security issue.

  5. Bloomberg (who wants to make owning a firearm a crime) insulted every farmer, mechanic and blue collar trade worker, Hillary called all rural people "deplorable"
At least Trump hasnt insulted us yet.
and you wont see anyone at a NASCAR race, protesting the national anthem.

    1. I think I said something to the effect that these people are so far removed from the regular life around them, when that damn rich, with private helicopters and jets, an entourage of handlers, assistants, hair and makeup for every moment in front of the news or publicity cameras....
that they say stupid shit regardless of the harm it does to their cause of getting elected.
Like they already know that voters are not electing them, which, huh, bingo. Voters don't put a president into office, the electoral college appointed members do.
I covered the corruption that gets the right congressmen to appoint a billionaires right hand man to the electoral college.
I have seen enough to know the game is fixed.
And once a president is elected by the right people, who have gotten the right people into the electoral college, they appoint the right people to the Supreme Court, and that is the goal in one game among the elite. To get the supreme court to be more conservative, or more liberal, to direct the big picture items like abortion, etc etc
But behind it all? Money, tons and tons of money.
Damn right there's no one protesting the national anthem at a race, stupid shit like that gets people hit by, or run over by race cars or when leaving the event in the parking lot.
It wasn't so long ago that the drivers in the races would make damn sure anyone not in the popular kids club would get their cars destroyed on the track, and no parts support off the track. Example, Wendell Scott

    1. No race track except a drag strip can take it... it weighs 22,000 pounds. That's going to rip up pavement in cornering

  9. That's probably why it stayed on the apron all the way around the track. I didn't think about the weight.
