A rare and unexpected hazard of electric cars, they simply don't work when the power company prevents another multibillion dollar lawsuit by turning off the juice during the Santa Anas

Tesla advised its car owners to fully charge their vehicles ahead of widespread power outages in California on Wednesday.

The first round of outages began midnight Wednesday, and the second round was expected to begin at noon on the West Coast.

PG&E filed for bankruptcy protection this year and admitted recently in court it may have caused nine wildfires in California this year.

  1. Huh, I admit that a solid argument against only electric cars. At least in this system of power distribution. Hybrids sound like the most practical solution.

Btw: you know Jesse I think my first post on your blog, many years ago was about white stripes on the tires and how it was a "must-be" on every parade in some USSR & satellites times. For some reason that came to my when I read a book about Canon de 155 C modèle 1917 and in it there is a photo of French motorized artillery battery on parade where howitzers are towed by Somua MCG 4-11 halftrucks. And not only wheels have white strips but also TRACKS! Now that's fancy.

And I even found online photo of it.

  2. Was wondering the same thing. Also, do the brown outs mean that gas stations can't pump has either?

    1. The stupid ones can't... the smart ones installed a back up generator that the test once a month, and use gasoline with (as that is what is in the 40,000 gallon tanks underground) so that they will be the place to spend money at when everyone else has to shut down, AND the cokes and beer will be cold and the ice cream will not melt.
The stupid gas stations will be without power for the pumps, cash registers, and coolers
