SUV idea that had a shot, but moron bureaucrats shot it down

In 1967 Landrover North America sent an 88 back to the factory with a raised suspension, V8, bucket seats and rollbar.

They said "build this and won't be able to keep the dealers stocked"

 Senior management shot down the idea because "no one needed a V8" in a utility vehicle. (idots like this lost the British the Empire!)
