A late production Grumman Hellcat was returned to the plant for workers to see. It had more than 200 bullet holes in it from combat.

  1. If my memory serves me correctly, Hellcats were primarily used in the Pacific, and were slower and less maneuverable than the Zero's. However, they made up for those deficiencies by having self-sealing fuel tanks and could take a lot of punishment (as the photo shows) and still fly.
