Three trains were standing unattended at an engine house with their engines running when they began moving.
August 21, 1969, shortly after the New Haven was absorbed by Penn Central. It was a three-unit set of PC power off the relatively new train from Selkirk via Framingham and Walpole that got away and wound up on the southeast expressway.

ReplyDeleteIt should say "three locomotive units" instead of "three trains". A train is the whole enchilada from the engines to the last freight car.
