I bet they couldn't make a nice looking landmark gas station like this anymore due to building codes or something... or someone would have by now

  1. Jesse, old gas stations have always fascinated me, and I always have a place in my heart for them and fantasize some day coming across one and buying it ti convert to a home. Alas, those dreams are fading with the passage of time and availability of said properties. This is a real piece of architectural art that Gilmore Oil Co. loved doing to attract attention to there product. Those were the golden age of full service filling stations, and the people who worked there took pride in there jobs. This thing must be in my blood.

    1. I've got it too. I come across the renovated gas station stories, the forgotten gas station stories, etc. Just a matter of being rich and taking the time to go down old highways to find one for sale. Every old highway has them about every 40 miles or less. Seeing a tower like this though, with a balcony for sunrise and sunset contemplation... that would be really nice
