baseball vs progress 1954, Norman Rockwell

Rockwell gathered up models for this scene in midwinter by knocking on doors (in Stockbridge, Mass.) and rousting up members of the Little League team.

Tiny Scott Ingram is sucking his fingers as the negotiations proceed. The boy in the baseball suit is big brother, Kenneth Ingram.

For a good look at a LOT of Rockwell paintings, without buying a coffee table book, see https://totallyhistory.com/norman-rockwell-paintings his April Fools Day paintings were just terrific

  1. Always good to see a Rockwell! My insurance agent distributes calendars each year with Rockwell paintings. When I was 23, I knew a lady of 39 who had been a neighbor of Rockwell with her family in South Arlington, VT. She and her sibs had been in children in Rockwell's paintings.

    1. Oh wow! How incredible that must be, to be able to point to one of the most iconic American painter's works, and state for a fact, that little kid right there is me! I was painted by Norman Rockwell, the legend!
