I have looked at your blog at least once a day for probably the last 5 or 6 years and it always amazes me the number of banners that I miss in a month. You most change banners 2 couple times a day.
Some days I do, especially when the banner I put up wasn't as strongly satisfying as one I find while looking for stuff to post. Then I simply must put up the new, better one. Some of these didn't get posted, but I'd made it, and won't be using it, because well, it was ok, but I set it aside in case I didn't find better material. Some I posted in the regular section of new stuff, like the sampan, and felt it made a good banner, but, because it DID get posted, I was in no hurry to use it as a banner too. Good heavens, you've been here for the past 5 or 6 years? Wow, I'm glad I've been keeping the content up to the level of entertainment that rates a steady viewing! What was your favorite post? Anything stand out?
Jesse You did post in 2019, I think. It was about a woman that shared her story with you about herself being apart of the auto industry back in the late 60's or early 70's I believe. Her role was was similar to the "Hurst girls" but it was not that. I don't remember what she actually did but it was a amazing piece of history for guy that loves history. Now I have to go find it again.

Love the photo of the old cars with a Walk-Over Shoe Store. My Dad used to sell Walk-Over shoes in his clothing store. I loved them for comfort and durability. I never had to "break-in" a Walk-Over pair of shoes. Do you happen to know the town where this picture was taken? It is Americana. The promo photo of the Chevy 3100 pick up is a hoot. I have seen this type of advertising for Cadillac in the 1950's with well-dressed men and women standing on a floating staircase seemingly just descending and pausing to admire the new Caddy. It is funny enough for the Cadillac, but for the Chevy pickup it is a screech. Unfortunately, I have nbot saved the Caddy photo to send to you.
Hi Oldtom9! I'm sorry, the photo had no info with it. What the heck are Preketes? in the photo, it's the business to the left of the Walk Over shoes, which I've never heard of. Competition in the 50s and 60s must have been fierce for shoes. Looking to learn about Preketes has a LOT of connections to Flint Michigan. A reverse image search, or using Tineye.com, might get you some info on what the name of this town was. Looking at license plates ought to get you the state. if yo can make out the year tag on the license plates you'll even narrow it down to when. I saved this photo to use exactly because of the Norman Rockwell feeling I had when I found it

Looking at the photo again, I see it is Ann Arbor Michigan. Middle business storefront has signs that state it is the Ann Arbor Bargain store.
