1969 Ferrari 512S Berlinetta Speciale, and some ridiculous model that should never have been on the car

the car is good looking enough to not need her... but since when do models get on TOP of the cars? Maybe I missed hundreds of thousands of photos like this... but I don't remember ever seeing a model on the roof of a car... with dirty shoe soles

here's the crazy part... the designer later on went on to Ghia for 3 decades and designed the Pinto and Escort.

here is something else, it was a roller... the engine wasn't built, just looked good from the outside, so they had to pull it up the mountain for these photos with that earth mover

The photo shoot was on top of  a mountain near Como, Italy was shot by noted racing photographer Rainer Schlegelmilch,

  1. That car looks like a felling wedge with wheels...

  2. In 1969 Holden Advanced Styling Group released their first offering.
The Holden Hurricane (RD 001). Similar to the Ferrari, the cockpit hatch lifted hydraulically forward over the car. The seats and steering wheel would raise up and tilt to receive the occupant and then lower and recline.
A pre GPS system called 'Pathfinder', a rear view camera cctv unit, automatic air conditioning, integrated roll bar, foam lined fuel tank and fire warning system...just to name a few. It had a mid mounted high compression 4.2L Holden V8 and trans axle. Which unlike the Ferrari, ran and drove under its own power with all features working.

Recently re discovered in the back of a tech college where apprentices had been practicing welding on it, Holden design restored it back exactly as it was in 1969.

    1. I tried to find my post of the Holden Hurricane, I can't find it after 20 minutes of searching... but I never heard of the way it was found, and where... thanks!

  3. Photoshop! Wonder if they used the loader to get the model up there?
