Corbin went to great lengths to impress the public, and gold-plated a chassis for the 1908 New York Exhibit of American Made Cars at Madison Square Garden.

the factory in New Britain worked day and night to complete the gold plating, spending an estimated $20,000 ($670,000 in 2024). Then they mounted the chassis over a large mirror.
