  1. Don't forget AMC were champions in 1971, 72 and again in 76!

    1. BTF, I didn't forget, and I didn't select the words of the post title carefully enough to avoid comments that missed what the hell I said. Read it again, notice the Firebirds never won, and this #33 never won. So, neither of the cars in the photos ever won, they were both also rans. If you have a better notion of a title for this photo, I'd like to hear it. Donohue and Follmer won in 71 and 72 respectfully, and that's not even bought up or contested by this title. Did you seriously think, I mean, really? That I forgot who won the 71 and 72 Trans Am wars and killed the damn thing? Because AMC won in 71 and 72, no one wanted to watch it anymore. Seriously. When it was Ford vs Chevy, then they had a show that the whole nation watched and we still marvel at the cool cars that raced (hence me posting this image), but when neither Ford nor Chevy could win, no one bothered to give a damn about this race ever again.

  2. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong but didn't Ford and Chevy pull their factory support in 71? Thus allowing AMC to get a leg up.
