Japanese modified culture is an impressively diverse thing, easily as diverse as their Western counterparts, and the quality of some of the cars is astounding. The really out-there stuff is Bosozoku (aka, Boso), more about making a loud visual and audio statement than trying to look elegant or pretty. There's other names for the styles, but I'm not going to risk getting them wrong by typing them here ;).
