first time I've seen a sound train with a neon light advert on top, or advertising insurance
the sound trains I've found in the past, that looked exactly like this, were typically 1928 and 29 Graham Paige

Huh... I'm pretty sure this is some advertising trackless train, the Cord has a cow catcher, the train has truck tires, but doesn't look like a "sound train" modified car
the middle of the boiler on the train seems to say Majestic, National (I can't read the middle word) Tour
the rail car has "Majestic Radio" on the side
It looks a little similar to the MGM trackless train, but the rail car has a few small differences http://www.coachbuilt.com/bui/m/mcgee/mcgee.htm
"As pictures of the ‘second’ locomotive appear to be identical to the original McGee-built vehicle, it is anyone’s guess if an entirely new locomotive was recreated. However no simultaneous appearances of the ‘Trackless Train” are recorded, and I believe the original locomotive built in 1924 was simply refurbished and presented as new."

the Dagmar was built by a famous and very large pipe organ builder in Hagerstown, MD. The only two known to exist are in a museum near Hagerstown (home to the Mason Dixon Dragway)
this is a DRAWING of one... that's incredible artistry. So photo realistic
One Dagmar was customized into a "Trackless Train" by Harry McGee for MGM

It's a 1902 Sterand locomotive car in Missouri, designed as a promotional vehicle for the Chicago Solder Company, which produced flux-cored solder, a vital product as the USA rapidly adopted electricity, built by the Western Motor Company (formerly Rutenber) of Marion, Indiana
it has an attached air-compressor of operating the steam whistle and for inflating the tires. This possibly makes it the first automobile in history with a built-in air compressor, a feature now commonplace on many modern 4x4s.

It's been a long time since I've seen a sound train

To see the others I've posted over the years: http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/search/label/Sound%20Train
there was a lot of variety over a decade, by a lot of different characters, with many different vehicles

Wally Akin and Ted Waggoner standing in front of the Paramount Theater in Abilene, Texas. 1939
the different version of the Paramount Studios sound train, 10 years after the 1929 Graham Paige series of Paramount sound trains, and I suppose they went with a wood spoke vehicle to correspond to the movie being about the 1860s, Central Pacific and Union Pacific Railroads compete westward across the wilderness toward California.

The University of Kentucky photography collection has a cool variety of 1930s photos
the above and below, are both examples of a grocery delivery truck, getting the Woolcott convertible top installed
Crazy to find a pair of photos of this top, that I've never heard of, in the covered and uncovered states!
Below is the Woolcott convertible top company truck! Love this hobby!

10 years later, this Paramount Sound Train is still in exactly the same dilapidated condition, and they are still trying to sell it. It had no bids on ebay, even though Bring A Trailer had featured it. Costing more to restore than it will be worth has that effect on potential buyers
the only useful things they've done are take a good gallery of images, and by default, let us know that they expect 25,000 dollars at a minimum for it. However, no one else feels the same.

1924 Shenandoah Valley Apple Blossom Festival had a road train, with small box cars at the old fairgrounds in Winchester, Virginia
Or a cleverly disguised vehicle that looked like a train, but, then the box cars really sell the notion that they made a train looking vehicle for the purposes of parades

A new image of a 1928 Graham Paige sound train just came up on Facebook
I haven't seen this one before, the cow catcher is very small... the 1929 Design was much more stout
