officially, 1971 was the last great year for the Hemi and 440 Six-Pack. The factory moved the few left overs out the doors anyway. A small number of Charger Rallye and Road Runner GTX cars slipped through in 1972 with 440 Six-Pack/6BBL

There weren't supposed to be any Mopars with killer engines in 1972, but sometime in the early 1980s, a Road Runner GTX 440+6 was randomly found in a junkyard, and it had the V-code in the VIN, so it was a legitimate 440 6BBL car. 

Until that point, nobody even thought such a car could exist, but it turns out that 3 were actually built, and it's likely that only tin the Brothers Collection still exists.

More common than the '72 Plymouth Road Runner GTX 440+6 is the '72 Dodge Charger Rallye Six-Pack, but only two have ever been identified, and nobody has seen either one in a decade

That car pictured above was listed on Mecum in 2013 and billed as a 1972 Charger Rallye with a 390-horsepower 440ci Six Pack V-8.

Mike Graham got a 67 GTX when he turned 16 (in 1985) as a birthday present from his uncle... with 2 five-gal buckets of bolts to put it back together with, and no idea where everything went.’

the car was in the middle of a rebuild – with the engine sitting calmly on the floor, the transmission scattered around the car, and a couple of large buckets’ worth of bolts to play ‘guess where this part goes.’ 

Mike’s love for the GTX began with a down-to-metal sanding of the body, which he did all by himself, after school and on weekends, all throughout the winter. Nonetheless, the satisfaction he got from putting the car back together with his own hands, made the GTX  his life-long addiction.

The “Auto Art” that Chicago artist Tom Strobel completed for Gage Chrysler Plymouth (Gage Park neighborhood Chicago) in 1966 for promotional purposes. These hand painted cars had an optic art vibe.

There were five original “Auto Art” cars, 1967 models: a Chrysler 300, Chrysler Newport, Chrysler Imperial, Plymouth Satellite/Belvedere GTX, and Plymouth Barracuda.
