This belongs to former Art Center head of Transportation Design Stewart Reed, often seen at the Center's annual car show. I met his daughter in Palm Springs at the 2013 Desert Concours while looking at a 1913 Buick. She mentioned she was going to make a website about cars. I wonder if she ever did?

This particular variant of the H-van does have some attempts made to be stylish, as it was designed by Heuliez, a French coachbuilder that made a number of H-van-based (and other Citroëns, too) special editions like ambulances and other sorts of vehicles.

If you wonder just what was all the hub bub was about, well, Paris in the 1920s was having a grand time, and Citroen even had a 1/4 million light bulbs installed on the Eiffel tower for advertising in 1925

But, due to the stock market collapse, and a LOT of competition from other French car makers, in 1934 Citroën went bankrupt. 

Not just because of the financial crisis but also because of Citroën’s rivalry with Renault and the lengthy and costly development of the Traction Avant that had crippled the company and arguably also its boss. Fortunately, Michelin stepped in and saved the company.

unbelievable French junkyard find... 65 Dodge Power Wagon tow truck, that with very little effort, is up and running... a handcrafted wrecker, certified by the French vehicle registration authorities. This truck combines the robustness of a Dodge WC 51 chassis (1944 Ambulance S7MA51) with the aesthetics of a Citroën U23 cab (1954).

This seems to have been simply abandoned one day, for no reason... everything works.

2025 Retromobile is going to shine a spotlight on Adolphe Kégresse, and showcase his invention, the half-track. This innovative solution provided vehicles with the opportunity to move around in extreme environments, and aided in creating exciting automobile expeditions.
