to make vehicle production more environmentally friendly, Mercedes is looking at using screws instead of glue, when assembling headlights with individual components

being able to unscrew one and replace it with a fresh piece makes replacement easier, which avoids junking an entire headlight because of one bad part. 

Mercedes is also looking into simpler assembly processes for other parts. For interior door panels, it hopes to replace ultrasonic welding with thermoplastic rivets that are easy to undo, allowing the door panel to be disassembled and individual materials separated for recycling when a car has reached the end of its lifespan.

Mercedes may also use old tires to make synthetic leather and sound-absorption material, and engine mounts made from recycled airbags, if current experiments pan out.

Mercedes has come up with something cool.... again! (gotta credit them with the invention of the car, with an internal combustion engine, right?) it's rims, with electrically controlled vanes that actively adjust for aerodynamic drag reduction, or max brake cooling air

the wheels incorporate active aero. 

The vanes reposition themselves based on the car’s drive mode.

When aiming for efficiency, they close off to reduce drag.

For performance, they adjust to allow better air flow to the brakes. 

Individual generators powered by the wheels provide the electricity to run the tiny actuators mounted in their hubs.

A 19 yr old guy from Connecticut was speeding along in his E300 Mercedes at 132 mph. He told cops he didn't stop for troopers because he was running late to a job interview. That's just more than a little over double the 65 mph speed limit

State police said they contacted the vehicle's registered owner, who said 19-year-old Azmir Djurkovic was driving the car at the time of the incident.

AMG evolved from the pet project of two intrepid M-B engineers whose passion, desire, and devotion far outstripped their means. 

Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher were engineers developing the racing engine for the Mercedes-Benz 300 SE in the early 1960s. 

Unfortunately for them, Daimler-Benz decided to cease motorsports involvement. Disappointed but undeterred, the pair continued work on the engine on the sly at Aufrecht's house in Großaspach

To further its development and prove their skills in a competitive arena, the pair planted the engine in the bay of an MB 300 SE in the German Touring Car Championship, and went on to win—10 times.

The pair's expertise with Mercedes-Benz performance now firmly cemented, Aufrecht realized the time to strike was now or never. 

He and Melcher found a company called Aufrecht Melcher Großaspach engineering firm, focusing on designing, testing, and developing racing engines. 

The AMG acronym naturally followed; its phonetic ring makes it both authoritative-sounding and easy to memorize.

McPherson College's 1953 Mercedes-Benz 300 S is the college’s first car fully restored by its students to be accepted at Pebble Beach this August

“We set a bold vision 10 years ago to show a car at Pebble Beach, and I was confident our students and staff could attain it,” said Amanda Gutierrez, provost and vice president of automotive restoration. “The goal was to get invited to compete at Pebble Beach, but there is a significant process that makes that happen, especially at a small college with students working outside of class hours. This project has been a valuable learning experience for our students as they study toward their bachelor’s degree in automotive restoration.

After an exhaustive search for the right car, work on the project began and has incorporated classroom curricula, expert guest lectures, and senior capstone experiences. The restoration was completed by teams of student interns who worked over the course of the restoration.

a Mercedes Benz stolen in 1992 was found by landscapers buried in the backyard of a convicted murderer and insurance fraud

Investigators were able to determine the Mercedes Benz was reported as stolen to the Palo Alto police in September 1992.

Police also said the vehicle was buried before the current homeowner moved in

The previous resident was Johnny Lew, who built the home and lived there with his family in the 1990s. He died in 2015.  Lew had a history of arrests for murder, attempted murder and insurance fraud.

Cyndi Lauper's son is an effing moron, he's been driving a stolen Mercedes, with stolen plates, for the past two years, and just illegally parked it, resulting in the cops learning what it is... because he's a "rapper" moron

The NYPD took dumbass into custody early Thursday morning after cops say they found him in the driver's seat of an illegally double-parked Mercedes. 

 Police ran the plates as part of their investigation, and the plates came back as registered to a different car.

 After checking the VIN number, they say the Mercedes he was in had been reported stolen 2 years ago.

Mercedes-Benz is recalling almost 1 million older vehicles worldwide over concerns about their braking systems. Owners of affected vehicles have been told not to drive their cars

"We have found that in some of those vehicles, the function of the brake booster could be affected by advanced corrosion in the joint area of the housing," Mercedes said in a statement on Saturday.
