how unusual to find a Lancia Integrale at SEMA! The elephant was chosen as a lucky charm and a metaphor for performance because of the legend that once an elephant starts running, it's unstoppable

I think I posted about the HF and 4 red elephants before, about a decade ago

The charging elephants were chosen as a lucky charm and a metaphor for performance because of the legend that once an elephant starts running, it's unstoppable

The HF was the Lancia racing team

news to me, some cars that left the factory made of fiberglass that aren't Corvettes

The Lotus Elan, 1962-1999. The Lotus Esprit 1976-2004. The Lotus Elise, 1996-2021

The DeLorean, unknown to me, the stainless steel outer skin, are actually fixed to a fiberglass monocoque, which was then attached to a steel frame.

The Meyers Manx, won't surprise anyone to be made of fiberglass... but it simply hadn't occurred to me to think of it when discussing fiberglass sports cars. And it is.

BMW Z1, 1989, 90 and 91surprises me. I haven't ever heard about it being made of fiberglass

Lancia Stratos, 1973-78 is another complete surprise.

Also, Reliant Robin, Volvo P1900, the Marcos (Thanks to comments and emails for these!)

New movie about the primo rally racing years, and Audi vs Lancia! "Race For Glory: Audi vs Lancia" with Daniel Brohl as Audi racing director Roland Gumpert, in the 1983 Rally World Championship

The rivalry is often likened to that of a David vs. Goliath tale, as Italy's team manager, Cesare Fiorio (Riccardo Scamarcio) was up against certain defeat at the 1983 Rally World Championships, where they faced off against the formidable team Audi and defied the odds.

Daniel Brühl has taken on the role of another key player in racing history as Roland Gumpert—the founder of Apollo Automobil and, more importantly, the Audi racing director who led the manufacturer to 25 rally championships and 4 Rally World Championship titles under his leadership beginning in 1981.

The trailer expertly lays out the stakes of not only race car driving but also the personal stakes that Fiorio found himself up against in 1983 as he sways German driver Walter Röhrl (Volker Bruch) to drive for Lancia against Germany's reigning champion. It showcases the glitz and glamour that goes along with the heart-pumping world of racing, but also teases the tension-filled rivalry between Fiorio and Gumpert. The trailer also reveals that the film's release date is in theaters on January 5, 2023.

did you know that Lancia only produces one car?

Sure, you can get it in the color of your choice... but how does a car maker survive in todays competitive market, with nothing but one commuter? In only one market? In only one country?

Of course, Chrysler only makes one car, and one van, but survives because it owns Dodge, Ram, and Jeep. Lancia, doesn't own any other car makers.

Now, I don't know if Lamborghini makes more than just one model, but then, no one is going to mistake a Lamborghini for a commuter.

I doubt they'll continue to exist 3 years from now. Just how many cars does a car company have to sell to pay the ridiculous salaries of upper management? Plus parts production, warranty replacements, someone to answer the phones, the sales people, etc. I'm pretty sure you have to sell a LOT of cars to keep a car maker in business, especially if you aren't making the F150, Dodge Ram, Charger or Challenger... because few vehicles continue to sell much without constant improvements, upgrades, and face lifts. Even the Mustang and Corvette rarely went more than a decade without a make over.

And how can Lancia afford any R and D to make a new model?

For it's goal is to make only electric cars, and compete with Tesla. How can Lancia afford to even try to?

The brand’s new CEO wants to reposition Lancia as a near-premium automaker aimed at customers with an average age of 55 with at least one child still at home. Also, Lancia will no longer sell models that are targeting mostly women.

I don't recall that ever being very successful. The Beetle was successful, the Mustang, the Camaro, the PT Cruiser.  Those were successful.

A 1962 Lancia Fulva parked in Italy for 47 years has become a tourist attraction, the owner is now 94, and he parked his car outside his newsstand in 1974, and used it as a depository.

"I ran the newsstand under the house for 40 years together with my wife Bertilla," Fregolent told Italian newspaper Il Gazzettino.

"When I opened the business, I was happy to have the Lancia Fulvia parked in front of it because I had the newspapers unloaded in the trunk and then I took them inside."

After nearly five decades, town officials have decided to move the vehicle because it was blocking the flow of traffic and pedestrians, Il Gazzettino said.

On October 20, the car was taken to the Auto e Moto d'Epoca Motorshow in Padua, to display it for a short period of time alongside other classic cars.

After that, the car will be restored and placed in the garden of the Cerletti Enological School, which is opposite Angelo Fregolent's home, where it will continue to be a local landmark. The couple will be able to see it from their window
