After multiple lawsuits, General Motors sent Corvette owners of certain model 2015 to 2019 corvettes a letter saying they would pay the repair and replacement costs for the defective wheels, but, GM told one owner that it’s now out of their hands, and paying the claims is totally the responsibility of a third-party company.

GM recalled 23,000 Corvettes, Z06 and ZR1 models, due to a cooling fan that could ignite spilled gasoline, and has issued a Stop Sale Order
GM has designed an insert to divert spilled fuel and is now working to source production and deliver it to dealers.
During refueling, fuel could potentially leak on the driver-side radiator. The Z06 and ZR1 are equipped with cooling fans that could blow this spilled fuel onto an ignition source and cause a fire.

GM's 1969 experimental electric bubble car the XP 512E
The 512E was one of three 512 city car concepts that GM showed at Progress of Power – which was held at the company’s Warren Technical Center in Michigan. The other two included a gasoline powered roadster model with a fuel-sipping 12-horsepower two-cylinder engine, as well as an impressive plug-in hybrid model that could operate in either all-electric or hybrid mode. The plug-in could travel up to 150 miles with a full fuel tank and battery, sipping only three gallons of gasoline for the trip.

Over the past six months, OSUIT has received the following from GM:

“When our students graduate having been able to train on the most recent vehicles and components, they then move into the dealership with the confidence of being able to diagnose and repair customers’ vehicles.
“These donations show that the partnership between General Motors and OSUIT is strong as we have more donations scheduled to come our way in the next couple of months, including another vehicle and various components,” Penrod said. “We rely on GM to keep us on the forefront of technology with these donations. In return, GM expects us to train technicians to meet the demands of our dealers and customers.”

General Motors agreed to a $150 million class action lawsuit settlement over the excessive oil consumption problem in 2011-2014 Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, Sierra, Yukon vehicles equipped with LC9 engines who live in California, Idaho or North Carolina.
Chevrolet and GMC vehicles are equipped with defective LC9 engines that consume excessive amounts of oil. Plaintiffs in the case say that GM knew about the defect but failed to disclose it to consumers.
Class members will receive a proportional share of the net settlement fund based on the number of vehicles they own or lease. According to the settlement website, each class member is estimated to receive at least $2,149.
New Crate Engine: These are typically the most expensive option, with prices potentially exceeding $7,000 for a new GM Goodwrench LC9 long block.

Lawyers got some outlandish amount of money instead of sticking GM with a RECALL where all affected parties get a new engine.
Seems to me that is a tenth of the cost of the engine rebuild or replacement.... because my Veloster had that "Excessive oil consumption" problem and the warranty replacement cost about 15thou... for a 2 liter Hyundai engine.

UAW members who build General Motors' popular full-size pickups at Fort Wayne Assembly in Fort Wayne, Indiana, have voted to authorize a strike because of six or seven managers at the plant working on the assembly line in union-designated jobs
GM wanted UAW Local 2209 Shop Chairman Rich LeTourneau to sign a letter agreeing to keep those 253 people designated as part-time temporary employees. But LeTourneau had been negotiating to make those people full-time temporary employees, if not permanent employees, saying there were openings for them.
According to GM's website, it employs 4,149 people at the plant where it builds more than 1,300 pickups a day.
When LeTourneau refused to sign a letter extending their status as part-time temporary employees, GM said it was required to release those 253 workers, citing provisions in the national UAW-GM contract. The people were let go on Sept. 30
GM then moved 42 seniority people from their jobs on first shift to assembly line jobs on second and third shifts, to fill in part of the void from losing the part-time temporary workers, which LeTourneau said violated the local contract.
"They're 50-year and 60-year-old men and women, GM stuck them on the worst jobs in the plants," LeTourneau said.
Strike not wanted, but 'this is our work'
GM has since moved those people back to first shift, but not to the jobs or departments to which they were originally assigned and had earned through years of seniority, he said.
But his real gripe centers on the company now allowing plant managers to do line repairs and other union-designated jobs rather fill those jobs by hiring full-time temporary or permanent workers.
"The minute these temporary employees left the plant they put all these managers in jobs and they won't stop doing it. There's a manager doing repairs right now on my line," LeTourneau said Thursday morning. "They are getting paid to manage and do our repair work. They do the cherry-picking jobs too, the ones that don't hurt them."

the Vega air filter, was known as the "bedpan of doom"
GM decided to put the paper filter inside an unopenable metal housing. The housing was still made in two pieces, and was pretty similar to a regular air cleaner design, but the top and bottom were permanently crimped together to enclose the air filter element inside. This assembly then bolted onto the carburetor directly.

have you heard of the CP4 fuel pump? GM just lost a class action lawsuit and it cost them $50 million dollars, for using a fuel pump that's incompatible with diesel fuel
The settlement follows a federal judge’s ruling that the CP4 fuel pump was incompatible with diesel fuel commonly available in California, Illinois, Iowa, Texas, New York, and Pennsylvania.
Drivers in these states are eligible to receive compensation for the repairs caused by the defective fuel pump, as their diesel fuel was incompatible with the CP4 pump design.
The lack of compatibility caused the pump to fail, leaving drivers with hefty repair bills. GM faced accusations of knowingly selling vehicles with this defect without providing any warning to consumers about the potential risks, those were trucks and vans fitted with the 6.6-liter Duramax engine models LML or LGH.
These engines came equipped with a CP4 fuel pump, which was defective in its design and led to severe engine damage when it ran dry.
The agreement allows owners of vehicles with the faulty fuel pump to file for one-time payments of up to $12,700, depending on the amount they spent on repairs.
If you are a Chevy or GM diesel owner who had to pay for repairs due to a CP4 fuel pump failure, you may be entitled to significant compensation. With payouts reaching up to $12,700, this settlement offers relief for the financial burden many drivers faced due to a defect that was out of their control.
By settling this case, General Motors avoids a prolonged legal battle, but the company still faces criticism for its handling of the defective fuel pump issue. Vehicle owners hope that this settlement is just the beginning of a shift in the way manufacturers approach vehicle safety and product quality control.

About 800,000 vehicles, including Chevy Silverados, Colorados, Camaros, and Corvettes, are involved in a class action lawsuit about a transmission
You probably recall the fact that GM knew about the ignition switch in the Chevy Cobalt in 2014, and had to do a big recall, but only after 13 years of denial, and 658 people who joined forces to get that lawsuit to happen
So, is this possibly a rerun of the "corporate risk management decision" where many corporations decide a lawsuit might happen, and a settlement might happen, and the corporation might have to pay out, but that is probably less expensive that redesigning, recalling, or whatever.
Per Reuters, the issue concerns the 8L45 and 8L90 eight-speed automatic gearboxes sold from model years 2015 to 2019, involving approximately 800,000 cars and trucks including Chevy Silverados, Colorados, Camaros, and Corvettes, various GMC products like the Sierra and Yukon, as well as Cadillacs such as the CTS, CT6, and Escalade. Even after repairs, the transmissions apparently “shudder and shake in higher gears” and “hesitate and lurch” in lower ones. Originally filed back in 2018, the lawsuit also accuses the automaker of instructing dealerships to assure customers that harsh shifts were “normal.”

Chevy did an awesome commercial last December, and I just discovered it. I hope you enjoyed it... GM just declared it's no longer doing Super Bowl commercials
Oddly, Chevy seems to show us what an amazing and long use a 57 Chev wagon had, to get us to buy a new whatever.
That new car ain't ever going to have a long life. Too many plastic parts in the engine, too many computers. New cars won't last half as long as anything made without plastic and computers.... those aren't repairable. Old cars are. The minute some computer sensor fails, or the code isn't compatible, that car made after 1980 is going to be in a junkyard waiting to be crushed.
The 57 wagon? Will last until someone doesn't want to fix rust. Everything else, is replaceable.
This 2022 Holiday Commercial from Chevy, was a response to the amazing results they had with the 2021 holiday commercial.
Makes me wonder, will they make a 2023 commercial in a similar heartfelt way?

'Bunkie' Knudsen, Chevrolet's general manager, was born in 1912, the son of former General Motors President and former Army Three-Star general William S Knudsen.
He began working for General Motors in 1939, in the Pontiac division. As a teenager he had asked his father for a car: his father's response was to give him one in pieces, which he had to assemble.
