this 70 Chevelle SS was won as a game prize at the Swift/Kelce wedding

Displaying the car during the wedding reception was reportedly a tribute to where their relationship first captured the public's imagination after Taylor attended her first Kansas City Chiefs game back in 2023. Following that appearance, Travis was famously seen driving the classic Chevrolet with Taylor riding shotgun

Nashville PD was looking out for this Chevelle... told the owner to park next to them during the parade

one of the officers said "That's a sweet ride. Do you want to park where nobody will touch it?"

I said "yes Sir." He said "Follow me."

They led me to a section of the garage where all the police cars were parked and then said "Today you're parking with us! I guarantee you nobody's gonna mess with your Chevelle!!!"

Chevys at the Optima Challenge Tuesday morning

I haven't seen this Z 28 for a couple of years, but have photographed it at the Optima Challenge before... cool car

If you look at this, and guess - Nova? Chevy II? Just like I did, that would be close, but wrong. It's close though, it's an Acadian Invader, I shit you not. Here one is selling on BAT https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1964-pontiac-acadian-invader for 12.5k

I knew at first glance that my initial guess of Nova was close, but not exactly right, so I guessed Chevy II... knowing there's something a tiny bit strange with that grill lower section that rests on the bumper. Or, is it a upper piece of bumper, something like a push bar? Anyway, that's the clue it's the Acadian Invader. Thank you Chuck for pointing me toward the Beaumont direction

it's surprising to see how much a Vette gets modified when (from what I've seen at the Optima Challenge) they don't get worked much harder than any regular street car does... VW bugs and a Toyota Yaris have been in the competition... it's not the Le Mans, not that much top speed stuff happens in the slalom or speed stop challenge

I just watched a race at Laguna Seca, speeds didn't top 125. Too many turns drop the speed to around 60

Wow, power to weight (and traction) means more on the strip than anything else, as proven by a 69 COPO 427 Chevelle racing a ‘71 Duster 340 at the Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Race 2025, and only winning by one 1/10th of a second... 12.0 to 12.1 for the Duster.

very similar top end speeds too... 114 and 112.

That 340 is a damn good motor.

I want to emphasis.... a STOCK 340 Duster damn near tied a COPO 427 Chevy. Seriously, why waste your money on a COPO 427 when it's not any better than a 340 Duster that likely cost 1/3rd as much, and has parts that you could replace from a junkyard. You are not ever going to get COPO 427 parts in a junkyard

A 440 six pack road runner at the same race pulled a 12.54 at 112. So... damn, that 340 Duster was perfectly set up and 4/10ths faster than a 440 A12 Road Runner

Seventeen-year-old Danny Banks bought this 70 Chevelle, LS 6 to race with... aluminum intake, 4492 Holley, turbo 400, and 4.10 gears

Danny would arrive at the meet up in a humble Pinto, find the fastest car in town, and agree to race for cash. Then he'd vanish, return with his secret weapon Chevelle, swap on slicks, and uncap the headers

It stayed hidden in a barn, coming out only when the stakes were high.

He parked it in his garage in 1988, and it stayed there until after he recently died. Now his family is selling it.
