I just learned from Gregg that reverse lights didn't come standard on Mustangs until 1966
Some early Mustangs built before August of 1964 (1964.5 models) will have a couple of additional differences. The headlight extensions will have a beveled edge to match a similar extension known as the “stiffening skirt” on the hood.
The pre-August 1964 and 1965 Mustangs have a Ford Falcon instrument panel with a horizontal speedometer and “idiot lights” for warning functions, but the 1966 has a Mustang-unique panel with a round speedometer and various gauges. Most 1965 GT models will have the round-speedometer panel, but if you see the Falcon version, you’ll know it cannot be a 1966 under any circumstances.
1965 Mustangs have gas caps with three notches around the sides and a recessed Mustang logo. In 1966 Mustangs, there are several small ridges all the way around the cap and the Mustang logo protrudes out past the words “Ford” on the top and “Mustang” on the bottom. A 1966 GT will have “GT” on the gas cap, but a 1965 GT won’t.

Eddie sent me this photo of his Aunt's 1933 Olds, and was wondering what it was...
the car belonged to his Aunt Betty, born around 1913. She was a beautiful woman who was a little more "progressive" than most girls in the 1920's and 30s.
She got a private pilots license in the 30s and was what was known as a "flapper". The picture was taken on Popular Ave. Hackensack, NJ. at her parent's house.
I'm going to guess its a 1933 Olds.
Here's what other people knew:
Olds came in two sizes, the six at 115" wheelbase and the eight at 119". I guess the same car with a longer hood. A rare car even when new. In the convertible body style Olds built 317 sixes and 267 eights. I think the car here is a six - because the rear edge of the hood is just forward of the rear end of the front fender crown. On the eight they are about level with each other.
the "Sparrow" hood ornament makes this a 115 inch wheelbase six-cylinder 1933 Model F-33 33418 2-door 3 passenger convertible. A 119 inch wheelbase straight eight-cylinder L-33 looked similar, but had a much different hood ornament..
While the 1934 Oldsmobiles shared the same body and trim with the 1933s, no 1934 Model 34418s (convertibles) were built with six-cylinder engines (F-34), and again, the L-34 eight-cylinders had a different hood ornament.
According to the Standard Catalog of American Cars 1805-1942 (second edition), the F-33 in the photo had a cast iron block inline L-head six-cylinder, displacing 221 cubic inches. It had a 5.3 to 1 compression ratio, mushroom valve lifters, a downdraft Stromberg EC-22 carburetor, and developed 154 ft.-lb. of torque.

'engineering dissatisfaction' using the 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air (thanks Gary!) aka, marketing things you don't need, and can't afford, so GM execs got rich
Planned obsolescence took a step further decades later during the Cold War, when businesses went after marketing techniques deeply rooted in human psychology.
Big businesses decided they needed to 'reboot the credibility of consumerism in the minds of the consumer' after they realized the risk that came with shoppers knowing that what they were buying would eventually break.
By the 1950s, the CEO of General Motors, Alfred P. Sloan Jr. found a way to upgrade a model of a car by making changes 'so novel and attractive' that it would create an 'amount of dissatisfaction with the past models as compared to the new one' - meaning buyers wouldn't wait for it to stop working to want a new one, implanting in the buyer's mind the idea that something better was coming soon - Brook Stevens described as : 'instilling in the buyer the desire to own something a little newer, a little better, a little sooner.'
The man at the heart of Sloan's project, Tom Matano, who was in charge of 'engineering dissatisfaction' using the 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air. 'Tom points to the brilliant blue sheen reflecting the sky. "That color was derived from nail varnish. The car was to be an accessory, matching your new coat or handbag,"' he told Peretti.
The car would also come with a catalog, showing customers what the upgrade model would like, available in just six months' time.'
'The catalog offered all the upgradeable features of the forthcoming car that one's current car lacked: a slightly better radio; different upholstery patterns; a more luxurious-looking steering wheel and shift stick.
'The object was that, at the very moment somebody bought a Chevrolet, they were made instantly aware there was a better one coming, which would make the new car obsolete.'
The car industry switched its focus from performance and reliability, to aesthetics and cosmetic changes, successfully turning obsolescence into a 'nagging kernel of doubt that the clock is always ticking on the new thing we have just bought.'
and if that didn't work, they also used the "keeping up with the Joneses" trick
