The 289 Cobra is CSX 2009, driven by Bill Knauer at Watkins Glen in August, 1971... Warren Agor in a 69Camaro ran into the Cobra. The Cobra had an impressive race record starting with the Nassau Speed Weeks in 1962.

Sam Feinstein went on to win the prestigious 1973 SCCA National Championship in the A production class, against a sea of factory sponsored Corvettes.

 In fact Feinstein piloted the bright green monster to many victories in the seventies.

It has always been unusual for a ten year old car to be competitive in SCCA racing, but not for the Cobras, when they showed up the rest fought for second place; they managed to show their tails to the factory backed Corvettes and Jaguars for a number of years past their prime - long after the Ford factory support had ended

I just learned that Hank died last year at age 99, and his Cobra (CSX 2227) is getting sold at Mecum, just like he predicted. His kids didn't want it at all, but knew it's worth millions, as Hank had been offered 2M, and they'd eventually auction it off

from 15 to 10 years ago, Hank drove his Cobra to a LOT of car shows, little local ones (Simpson's Nursery), and bigger ones like the Knotts Berry Farm Fabulous Fords. If you went to a good sized car show, you probably saw it, and I posted about it a couple of times, as it's a REMARKABLE car, and Hank was a really cool guy!

One of the last original owner Cobras, this is also one of the most raced, as I've thoroughly written about in the above linked articles, Hank entered nearly 400 races, including SCCA, Solo 1, rallies, slaloms, and private club events, and received over 260 trophies and awards.

The Lacey Lady, the B17 of the Bomber Gas Station in Milwaukie Oregon, is still being slowly restored, but it will still be years and millions of dollars until completion and test flight. That gas station went out of business during the covid quarantine though. The plane won't ever be coming back to be a roadside attraction, it's going to be a museum piece

While serving as the showpiece of the Bomber Gas Station, the Lacey Lady’s wing tanks were converted to motor oil holding tanks. Motor oil was dispensed to the vehicles below via spigots affixed to the side of the building in the late 40s.
