In the 1978 film The Wiz, the Lion is named Fleetwood Coupe De Ville, and he's got a pretty cool rear view mirror
One of my favorite childhoood movies... the graffiti people, the lion, scarecrow and tin man, the monster trash cans, walking cameras in the Emerald City, those cool taxi cabs, and the very cool motorcycle gorillas!
And the great songs, No Bad News, and Ease On Down the Road!
But I'd never noticed that the lion's name is Fleetwood Coupe De Ville until now

the walk tonight had a lot to see
it's been a while since I've seen a 60s Continental on the street
it's a 4 door Galaxie... why? Why the hell not get a 2 door?
it's rare to see a Mopar wagon, especially from the past 25 years
I'm not sure what's under the hood, I don't think I even have a good guess... but the door handles prove it's a cool 2 door from the right era, and that's good enough

it's behind the paywall of course, but the news from the day before Mario's birthday, was that Cadillac named their first F1 race car for Mario! Very cool! Thank you Marc!

F1's new 11th team announced on Friday its car will be the MAC-26, short for Mario Andretti Cadillac, for the most recent American F1 champion.
“Naming our first chassis MAC-26 reflects the spirit Mario carried into Formula 1 and the belief that an American team belongs on this stage,” said Dan Towriss, chief executive of Cadillac Formula 1 Team Holdings.
“His story embodies the American dream and inspires how we approach building this team every day.”
Andretti is an ambassador for the General Motors-backed Cadillac team, whose F1 entry originated with a bid fronted by his son Michael under the Andretti Global name.
The original bid was rejected by Liberty Media, the commercial rights holder of F1, amid prolonged wrangling.

The aristocratic-sounding Fleetwood, which came to epitomize fine automotive design throughout the world, had humble beginnings not in some lordly English village, but rather a small town between Kutztown and Reading where autos were custom-built for the likes of Mary Pickford, Rudolph Valentino, the Emperor of Japan, Italian noblemen and an Indian Prince.

sheriff's deputies pulled over a 79 Cadillac for speeding on PCH, and discovered 2 surprises, a homeless man was behind the wheel, and it was stolen from Jerry O'Connell.
It was stolen from O'Connell's Calabasas home in the west San Fernando Valley.
O'Connell and his family were out of town and were not aware the car had been stolen, the sheriff's department said.

Starting in the early 1970s and lasting through the early '80s, Cadillac equipped models like the DeVille and Seville with an analog "mirror thermometer" built directly into the driver-side housing. These clever mechanical dials were tilted toward the driver and even featured fiber-optic lighting so they were visible at night, allowing owners to monitor the outside temperature without modern sensors or LED screens.

Just three years into the Las Vegas Grand Prix, it's consistently building and tweaking its race traditions, with the cool-down car from the past two years upgraded in 2025 to a pink LEGO Cadillac piloted by actor and former NFL player Terry Crews.
At the end of F1's longest race by overall distance on the calendar, Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, and George Russell climbed into the back bench seat of the LEGO convertible, where a LEGO race track and oversized pink LEGO sunglasses were waiting for them. The LEGO Cadillac was seen around the circuit all weekend, and marks the second time that LEGO and F1 have joined forces to create life-sized vehicles for their drivers. LEGO provided 10 1:1-scale F1 cars for the drivers' parade at the Miami Grand Prix, which led to the 20 drivers fighting over the captain's seat and LEGO-to-LEGO contact.

Jay Ohrberg originally crafted this Cadillac custom ‘Guitar Car’ to get a celebrity endorsement with Elvis in the 1970s, with paint left over from the Pink Panthermobile, and it was of course, neglected, abandoned, rusted, and nearly beyond repair, but now a restoration is underway in Orlando
the “guitar strings,” are currently missing
Though several articles make claims that Elvis drove it on one occasion, during his residency in Las Vegas, but there are no photos of that... and Elvis was the most photographed celeb of his time.
Chat GPT states that there is no evidence or photographic record to support this story.

The Broadmoor is an iconic Colorado Springs resort, historic and the longest running Forbes 5 star, AAA five diamond resort. It opened in 1918, and among other interesting things, commissioned Maxfield Parrish (one of my favorites https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/search?q=maxfield ) to craft a painting of the hotel.

Cadillac has around 200 standalone dealerships across the U.S. at the moment, which handles around 60 percent of the brand’s total volume. Cadillac also has 367 dealers that share space with at least one other GM brand as well, though they only make up around a third of its sales.
The Lincoln dealer network consisted of around 637 dealers as of the start of 2023, along with 145 standalone stores – a total of 782 locations where U.S. customers can buy a vehicle from that brand, or 215 more than Cadillac.
