In an unusual experiment born from the lessons of two decades of war in the Middle East, TRICARE health insurance will test a program paying ambulance providers separately for blood transfusions, reimbursing civilian ambulances for blood provided to those needing life-saving intervention prior to reaching the hospital
The Defense Health Agency's five-year TRICARE demonstration project, which is scheduled to begin in January, will reimburse authorized ground and air ambulance providers that administer "medically necessary" whole blood or blood components, such as red blood cells or plasma, to military personnel, family members, and retirees, according to a recent government posting.
If the experiment proves effective, it could help address a major barrier to carrying blood on ambulances, potentially convincing insurers to adopt new payment models that reduce the cost burdens for providers for life-saving interventions.

Project Reconecta installed eight rope bridges in a municipality in Brazil, and a 15-month study used camera traps to document thousands of arboreal wildlife adapting to new aerial crossings.
Reconecta’s creator, biologist Fernanda Abra, a National Geographic Explorer and winner of the Whitley Award, is now expanding these low-cost conservation tools to other Brazilian biomes and neighboring Suriname.
Brazil’s federal transport department has officially designated the rope bridge design as the recommended national standard for highways to curb the millions of wildlife deaths recorded on roads annually.

I can't grasp or even imagine how you managed to accomplish so much, all the while juggling work and leisure
into the mix.
Most folks are like me, looking in on you, almost religiously in fact, without commenting.
Not for not wanting to do so,
but unable too because of our own self-centered, and overly hectic, too busy, preoccupied lives.
My words may appear to be only an octogenarians ramblings but believe me when I say, my day would be significantly
impoverished if I wasn't able to access your blog as one of the first items on my days to do list!

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters joins Teamsters Canada and the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) in calling on Canadian National Railway (CN) to immediately stop operating trains through active wildfire zones and put the safety of Teamsters Canada rail members first.
A recent viral video on social media shows a CN freight train engulfed in flames while traveling through an active wildfire in Northern Ontario. The train was operated by Teamsters Canada Rail Conference members, whose quick thinking and professionalism ensured that no one was injured. But those workers should never have been put in that position. CN should never be sending train crews into such dangerous conditions.

beautiful... why don't I know where there are high quality videos, of someone who has recorded the drive through scenery like this... with nothing but the camera on top of the vehicle, and the sound of the vehicle?

Comic Con 2026 is over, and I found some good stuff to post, but it's less vehicle related than my typical daily variety
I would ordinarily post more, but I haven't gotten much sleep lately, and I'm wiped out, and need to get more than the last couple of weeks of 6 hours or less per night.
During comic con, nightly sleep varied from 6 hours on Tuesday, 4 on Wednesday, 2 on Thursday, and 2.5 on Friday. Saturday I got about 10 to catch up some on the lost sleep... I felt better, but still a bit groggy
On average, Tuesday night to Friday night, I got about 3.6 hours a night

The Supreme Court agreed Monday to review an Alaska bush pilot's claims that state authorities have tried to illegally seize his $95,000 airplane after a passenger brought a six-pack of beer on a flight bound for a dry village. It's simply govt overreach
taking his 1969 Cessna would violate the Eighth Amendment's "Excessive Fines Clause."
Read this article... it's worth it. Good for him to fight this bullshit, and get it to the Supreme Court who NEEDS to put the govt back in check
