the UK govt decided that effective April 2025, all double-cab pickups will be considered cars for taxation purposes, significantly increasing costs for those running them as company vehicles
The change in definition follows a legal case between Coca-Cola and HMRC, which concluded that a vehicle should be clearly suited to one task or another and that no decision should be based on a narrow margin. In cases where it’s not clear if a vehicle is primarily suited for carrying goods or people, it should be classified as a car.

In the late 1990s, Toyota almost released a full-size truck called the T-150... if Ford hadn't protested, they would have
The F-150 was already a best-selling vehicle in America when Toyota proposed its new T-150, but Ford lobbied against the title. Ford successfully claimed the name met conditions for trademark infringement due to its similarity to the F-150, as the Los Angeles Times reported in 1998

J.D. Power’s recently released 2024 U.S. Customer Service Index Study shows what brand's dealerships are the worst, and most despised, among all the truck makers. I expected these results
the brands that feel most confidant that they'll have return customers, no matter how horribly they are treated, do the least to do the customer service job right.
Notice that Jeep, Honda, and Rivian aren't in this survey

you probably remember that Chevrolet produced the Task Force Series of trucks from 1955 until 1959. But, did you know

Found on tonight's walk around the neighborhood, a couple surprises
I spotted a couple old Ford trucks... and by the way, there are NO new Ford trucks in this neighborhood, lots of Toyotas, no Chevys, no Dodges. There are only OLD Fords, older than 1985
See what I mean? I think this is an early 80s based on the hood shape. I could be wrong of course.

Truck painting has become a distinctively Pakistani art form,
Thanks in part to the efforts the anthropologist and filmmaker, Pakistani trucks don't only look and sound good — they also serve a social good. She helped launch an award-winning project in 2019 in which a small number of trucks carry portraits of missing children, along with a number to call for Roshni Helpline, a Karachi-based nonprofit dedicated to recovering them.
"So that if whoever sees this image and wants to reach out to the helpline with any kind of information, it would be easier for them to remember the number and everything," she explains.
Many did reach out. Of the 20 or so missing children whose portraits were painted on trucks, Khan says at least five were found.

North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper signs bill banning popular ‘Carolina Squat’ modification to pickup trucks
House Bill 692 generically called “Restrict Certain Vehicle Modifications.” will essentially do away with a polarizing height adjustment of pickup trucks called the “Carolina Squat.”
The new law says that a vehicle would be violating the law “if the suspension, frame, or chassis, the height of the front fender is 4 or more inches greater than the height of the rear fender.”

yesterday, New York Times editorial board member (people who think their opinions matter more than yours) Mara Gay, recounted a "disturbing" trip she took to Long Island this past weekend... Memorial Day weekend. Yes, she was upset to see flags, USA stars and stripes, on trucks. Made in the USA trucks. On Memorial Day. When you hear an idiot speak, unaware that they are an idiot, do you wonder how they have achieved their career goal?
“I was on Long Island this weekend and visiting a really dear friend and I was really disturbed. I saw you know, dozens and dozens of pick-up trucks with expletives against Joe Biden on the back of them, Trump flags, and in some cases just dozens of American flags which, you know, is also just disturbing because essentially the message was clear. It was: ‘This is my country, this is not your country, I own this.”

I'm going to guess she rode in the back of a chauffeured Suburban, from her multi-million dollar brownstone, to a mansion on Long Island with a dock where a multi million dollar yacht was waiting to head out for an afternoon sailing.
How frightened out of her mind the 4th of July must make her. Flags everywhere, on the sidewalks, flagpoles, street lights, houses, businesses, trucks, cars, etc. The thought of Trump getting re-elected, with bunting plastered all over Washington DC, would probably push her to hysterics.
SO, this is what the New York Times considers a good editorial employee mindset, and pays for their opinion? Seems very extreme left liberal democrat.
Well, I doubt you're buying the New York Times anyway, but obviously, among it's editors, is one idiot who is quoted as having an issue and stating "and in some cases just dozens of American flags which, you know, is also just disturbing because essentially the message was clear. It was: ‘This is my country, this is not your country, I own this."
Yeah, capitalism and property ownership.
Can she really hate those very fundamental American dream issues?
Someone recommend to her that she move to Brazil. Wonderful people, and she won't ever see an American flag. Seems like a good solution to her many problems with the USA, and the people in it. Just leave. Find some other nice country, move there. Don't look back. I'd tell you to let her know, but her Facebook page is simply a placeholder ignored since 2016, likely she has a fake one to avoid hearing from people who disagree with her nonsense https://www.facebook.com/mara.gay.3
Those trucks with American flags, are driven by the people who will pull over if they see you have a flat tire, and help you get the spare on, while handing you a bottle of water, and making sure you get on your way.
Imagine seeing American Flags all over during Memorial Day Weekend in the United States, on trucks.
I like that myself. It reminds me of the kid who was driving his truck to high school, with a flag in the bedside pole mount https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2015/05/york-comprehensive-high-school-south.html

the more trucks change over 20 years, the more the amount of space in the pickup bed remained the same
I didn't get out a tape measure, but they look like the same length truck beds to me

If you've got a truck, you've probably got a tool box in it. There are several possible types.... here's one that you probably haven't heard of, Unruli - and it's unique, as there are 2 versions, one that quickly unmounts if you want to use the whole truck bed, the other, you can remove the entire portable tool boxes. Unruli slides out from under a tonneau cover to the tailgate edge. No reaching. No climbing.
The other toolboxes are mounted more permanently. Not helpful if you need to suddenly help someone move, right? Or load the motorcycle in for a weekend trip.
This product offers the pickup truck owner the convenience of converting their truck beds within minutes to go from using a cargo box for managing small items, to full utilization of their entire truck bed for hauling large items.
This installs in under 30 minutes with 1 person and 1 wrench. No drilling, no harm to the truck. It stores up to 250 pounds in corrosion-resistant, lockable box.
I really like the Decked product, but it's shortcoming is the lack of versatility when, if you are the type with an ATV or dirt bike, that you might want to put it in your truck bed and haul it to some offroading location
So, I just want you to know about this storage system. It's EASY to use, I tried it out at SEMA 2019.
The thing with Unruli is that you mount the slide rails, and they are TRICK cool, and the storage bays easily get out of the way when needed
The solid boxes? Also TRICK, they come out fast, so you can trasport ALL your tools at once, like, if you are a construction guy who needs to get ALL your tools out each day at work and when you come home. LOTS of guys have had tools stolen out of their truck tool boxes... because the old fashioned tool box is permanently mounted in the bed, next to the back window.
Hey, if you pull out the tools, one by one, fine. BUT you don't have time for that every day when you get to the job site AND when you get home! How Unruli makes that a thing of the past is that THESE diamond plate boxes easily come out of the slides and you just carry them to the jobsite or into your home after work, leaving nothing for thieves to make off with.
I know this video didn't show it, but just like a cooler, you can take these storage boxes with you so no one steals your stuff.
see the handle on the side? Ready so you can get someone to lift the other end, and carry the tool box out of the truck, and that way, your tools and stuff aren't left where thieves can break in and steal them
Seriously, get a 25 dollar collapsible dolly from a hardware store, and you're now just wheeling your tool box and tools away, so you can park your truck where ever... you won't need to worry about your tool boxes getting broken into, cause you don't have to leave them with your truck.
MSRP for the folding system was 1300, and 1600 for the diamond plate tool boxes.
Right now the up coming roll out is for the Ford F-150 model by August 1st, but of course the quarantine caused the delay in production and release of Unruli. They are currently re-engineering for Chevy pickups.

Steve found a truck with pin up nose art... I don't recall seeing a truck with pin up nose art before either (thanks Steve!)
I saw a WW2 Jeep with nose art, and the gun trucks in Vietnam with art on the bed sides http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2019/02/gun-trucks-of-vietnam-thanks-mike.html .. but I can't recall seeing pin up art on a truck before
