I remember seeing those little things back in the day. They really did look like little Thunderbirds, though with a three cylinder 2-stroke they sure didn't sound like 'em.
Similarly the 1958 NSU Prinz 4 and the 1960 Chevrolet Corvair looked remarkably alike, with even the roof continuing - respectively - a few centimetres and inches over the rear window.
