The Honda Type R costs $34,775, seats four, delivers more than 46 cubic feet of cargo room with the rear seat folded down, and gets 28 mpg on the highway, and lapped the 'Ring in 7:43.8 seconds
Production 4 door car... for less than 1/10th the cost of a 2005 supercar, 1/3rd the price of a Viper
Is anyone selling millionaires ridiculous cars paying attention? Just how do you talk a rich person into blowing a fortune on a Pagani, when it's not as fast as a Honda that costs 1/10th as much.
You could buy 2 Honda Type Rs, and still have enough to buy a house, and pay for race day, all for the cost of one Pagani that isn't replaceable.

beautiful Duesenburg, body by Judkins
and under the windows, what a cool design element. I've never seen it before.
even the gas tank cap design is fantastic
compare this Packard's treatment under the windows to the previous louver look on the Duesenberg
here's the interesting part... it's not a fiber. The owner was telling me it's some material laid on like a cake frosting detail. I don't know how that's possible, when some wood slivers, cane, bamboo, or straw would work pretty well. This Packard happens to be the 1st one Phil Hill restored
I was surprised to see this Packard at the San Marino so long after seeing it at the LaJolla http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2017/04/this-purple-packard-bucks-boring-paint.html because it belongs to the San Francisco Art Center car collection. I actually recognized it from the rims. I didn't remember the rest of the car, but the purple rims are cool, and stand out.

See, in park. The radio display is supposed to resume when you shift out of reverse into any other gear. So, this is a warning... don't trust computers completely, verify with your mirrors, or look out the back window.

Did you ever realize, Americans made a LOT of leisure stuff really cool in the 40-60s, and then it all went to hell from the 70's on?
How much of that is due to the incredible generation born in the great depression, forged in WW2 or surviving at home with the rationing of eveything... and then BOOM, the USA went into making fishing and leisure boats, campers and trailers, the interstates, Cessna and Piper personal airplanes, etc.
Sure, some stuff is still made here... but it's mostly mastercraftsman level stuff that only millionaires can afford. For example, a 2017 Airstream Flying Cloud starts at 19 feet, and 62 thousand damn dollars. That's 3 times what my parents paid for their 2 story 4 bedroom house and 2 acres. Justin has a cool grand dad, and a cool Plymouth truck that his grand dad gave him when he learned Justin was heading to McPherson College!
Justin's grand dad is the only other person in his family that is into cars... and how! He used to work with George Barris! When word got to him that his grandson Justin was heading to McPherson (the automotive college) he asked him if he'd like a cool ride, and they talked about what was available, and Justin picked this 1940 Plymouth truck!
Down to the frame, and then some. The truck had been used hard and some cracks were in the cross beam, so the rivets were removed, the beam was worked on and welded, and then it was all straightened, and the process of making a runner began
still needs some straightening out on the roof, so the windows and windshield will fit in, but it's running with old school Mopar power. A straight 6 218 I think he said, from a 38 or 48.
While getting some online help, he learned that this is a rare military model, as they were the only ones to get a big gas tank, 26 gallons I think he said, instead of the normal 18, which took up the space the spare tires belonged in, which forced the spare to get mounted on the side.
Not only a rare truck made by Plymouth, but a rare Plymouth made for military use! Coincidentally, while shooting the breeze, I learned his great grand dad served on the USS Skipjack
When dragging them home, all full of hope, and empty of wallet... be sure to grease the bearings, and carry a couple fire extinguishers
