1975 VW Bug, never sold, never registered, only 242 miles on the odometer

Ordered originally by the proprietor of a VW dealership in Michigan, his intention being to keep the car for his children to use when they went to college. However, as newer models featuring better safety equipment were launched, the kids got their hands on a Golf instead and the Bug languished in their pop’s showroom.

If you have noticed, Swift trucking company drivers do a LOT of stupid things and get photographed at it... well, finally, the president/COO is fed up. Next month driver facing cameras are getting installed

Swift Transportation informed its drivers last week that the company will deploy dual video recording systems in all company trucks beginning in May. The systems include both forward-facing and driver-facing lenses. Installation of driver-facing cameras, sometimes considered distasteful to drivers, represents a risk for Swift at a time when most truckload fleets concede their most pressing concern is recruiting and retaining drivers.

According to Swift’s website, the company operates more than 18,000 power units and does more than $4 billion in business a year.

The company ranks by revenue as the second-largest truckload carrier (behind Schneider) and the sixth-largest for-hire fleet overall in the most recent Transport Topics Top 100 survey. Swift will be the largest for-hire truckload carrier yet to deploy driver-facing cameras.

A Swift spokesman said the company had no comment on the internal announcement.

South Carolina DMV loses a case in court, and just maybe, learns that it's only job is to issue the license to those that pass the tests, not to harass people on what they look like in the damn photo on the drivers license

Chase Culpepper has now won a federal lawsuit against the the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles after she was forced to remove her makeup when trying to take a photo for her first driver's license in March of last year.

DMV employees refused to provide her with her driver's license until she removed the makeup she was wearing.

A settlement was made Monday, according to court documents which said the South Carolina DMV agreed to change its photo policy, implement training on the treatment of transgender and gender nonconforming individuals, allow Culpepper to return to the DMV and get her license photograph taken wearing makeup and apologize to Culpepper for how she was treated.

"I am thrilled with the outcome of my lawsuit,” Culpepper said. “My clothing and makeup reflect who I am. From day one, all I wanted was to get a driver’s license that looks like me. Now I will be able to do that."

DMV officials asked Culpepper to remove her makeup after passing her driving test last year because of a policy banning license photos when "someone is purposefully altering his or her appearance," according to court documents.

(allright... here is my grudge. Time and other factors alter what we look like, from growing hair, to losing hair, to getting a haircut, styled, or colored. Getting glasses, switching to contacts, or getting laser eye surgery. Wearing makeup, or how much and what kinds of makeup are the same as any natural variations in the facial appearance. SO WHO THE HELL IS ANYONE IN THE DMV TO PESTER ANY ONE ABOUT THEIR LOOKS? And nothing I've ever learned of has given me any thought that you have to look like your drivers license photo to drive legally. Can't you drive with a helmet on? Of COURSE! Can't you drive with a wig or toupee? YES. Hollywood monster makeup for Halloween? YES. DMV sucks! )

KISS chopper photoshoot from the 70's

I bet he thought this was going to end differently, without a trip to the hospital

I repeat, innovative displays for a car show booth are gold for viral marketing.

Previous examples are rare, but a couple years ago there was a car club that made a display look like a snap together kit car (shoebox sized hobby store type) but full sized. They even had a huge exacto knife and bottles of paint

It's a display in the showroom of the company VW Heritage, in England, north of Brighton

feeling reeeeaaaalllll 70's with this Evel Knievel commercial

You can find some pretty obscure images on facebook, like this dealership lot full of early 70s vans painted to the hilt

30 years of garage storage, but this 1970 LS5 4 speed Vette was never forgotten or given up on, because the guy who tp'd and shaving creamed it when he was 12 years old, for his cousin's honeymoon, finally convinced his cousin's husband to sell it to him

the car is numbers matching, and unmolested. It was garaged for good when the gas tank had to be removed to fix a leak, but it never went back on the car,.

Another terrific story (read the full article here: http://www.hotrod.com/cars/barn-finds/1504-the-odd-story-of-a-certain-1970-chevrolet-corvette-ls5-coupe/ ) from Jerry Heasley

What in the world? Take a look at these cigarette cards, and tell me (if you can) what the hell are they about

Paraffin (isn't that wax?) in the gasoline? It got me curious, and simultaneously a comment with the answer while I was looking it up, but the British and some other countries refer to Kerosene as Paraffin

How does a button intensify the spark? Added resistance = high voltage? (E=IR voltage equals current times resistance... Ohms Law of electricity)

Putting cream in a tire with a hole in it can stop the leak? I don't think so. I was wrong!

Steve (that craza guy! (with a Borat accent)) found the back of this card (!)

You remove the valve core and funnel in the milk as shown on the card you posted.  A few things combine to make leak stoppage happen.  At normal temps milk starts to sour fairly quickly and the heat generated by the tire as it rolls hastens the souring.  The rolling tire acts as a bit of a churn, and the heat also helps the water in the milk to separate and some water out the puncture or poorly seated bead, and some evaporates sort of like the propellant in products like Fix-A-Flat.   As the milk goes bad, churns, and loses water, it thickens and forms small chunks of milk fat - sort of like a butter/cheese mix.   As the soured milk squishes out the hole, it carries along bits of the milk fat, which eventually plug small holes such as those made by thorns and the like - things that cause slow leaks that flatten a tire over a period of several days.

Some bicyclists carry a can of condensed milk (Pet, Carnation, etc,) to use, even though it in the same way.  Most of the water is already gone and the remaining liquid is nearly the same consistency and look as commercial sealants (thick and sticky).  While the souring factor is much less, the solids are more concentrated and it seems to work faster.  Plus it has the advantage of smelling sweet when you dismount the tire - instead of rancid - and the sticky film left inside is easily wiped off with a wet towel.

This might put the hold on something but as soon as you go to lever the object you are pinching between a jack and the car frame, I bet it spins out and you get a sudden drop of the car onto the jack.

A judge in Florida is fed up with police misconduct, and boneheaded prosecuting attorneys, reverses the sentence

The cop screwed up when checking boxes on the ticket about giving the suspect a dui test, or lied about it, the truth was arrived at on the witness stand, and the judge then had been brought to the point of frustration with the prosecuting attorney... who I notice would not shut up in his court room... and due to the police misconduct, reverses the verdict from dui guilty, to acquittal, and the case may or may not be retried... but the defendant isn't likely to get shafted again now that the defense attorney has the facts of the police botching their evidence and paper work.

So readers, just as it's a rare occasion that I can applaud police for getting through a day without bringing down their already heinous reputation, and doing something noble and respectable, it's rare that a judge isn't a horses ass, and does something eminently respectable and suitable for their appointed task of judging a case honest and fairly.
