A British Airways employee has been fired just two weeks after starting, for wearing his hair in a bun.

Londoner Sid Ouared was fired from his job at Heathrow because he refused to change his look, specifically, his stupid looking man bun. Yes, stupid.

Now he's on a publicity tour accusing British Airways of sexism after his contract was terminated for breaching uniform policy.

“They basically said, ‘cut it, put it in a turban like a Sikh, or turn it into dreadlocks like a Rastafarian.’ I am not any of those things and I can’t believe that they would make me wear my hair like something I am not,” he said.

“Thousands of women who work for BA and who worked alongside me had their hair exactly like mine. Yet I’m discriminated against for it.”

When approached for comment, British Airways told The Independent: “We don’t comment on employment matters relating to individuals.”

British Airways takes a stringent approach to employees’ appearance. Ponytails are only permitted for men to secure dreadlocks.

Designer stubble is not allowed and “orange skin tones are not permitted.”

I can see that he has a point... and clearly, when some employees have hair in a bun, pony tail, braid, etc... it's then unjustifiable to give any employees trouble about having a similar or identical hair style.

The trend in recent times of demonstrating that employers and school dress codes are ridiculous and sexist has been repeatedly enough to get comprehension and equality. Shorts not allowed? Men then wear dresses above the knee and bingo, managers shut the hell up, and then list shorts on the approved dress code. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-trending-40366316

Frankly, I'm surprised the people firing him weren't smart enough to avoid this lawsuit waiting to happen. Isn't the obvious, well.. obviously bad publicity?

All the same, it's a ridiculous and distracting looking glam fad dance club bit of nonsense for emo types. Show up to work looking something close to publicly conservative and representative of the corporation you would like to get a paycheck from, or, go work in a tattoo shop, dive bar, night club, or overpriced fashion couture outlet store.

  1. You can't blame him, next thing they would want him to trim his mangina!

    1. agreed... however, if the women are allowed a bun... then the bun is allowed in the dress code. Now, I think it looks stupid, but, he's got a legal point. Even if he appears to be a pansy

  3. Not a "Man-bun": appears to be more of a douche-knot or perhaps a saddle horn for his boy-friend.
